I don't want to anyone to get into naming names here - so try and keep this one general but I just wandered what you tend to do when purchases/trades you have made fail to show up.

Whats the course of action if its insured or not.

Whats the longest you have waited before something has arrived in the post?

Just asking because I made a deal with a guy in Hong kong and he got my stuff within a few days but I am still waiting 4 months later for his part of the deal to arrive. He sent it surface mail which he says can take a while...

Interested in both sides of the story, senders and buyers on this one.

[remember I don't want this to disintegrate into any personal arguements about who has sent what to whom]

just saying, 4 months seems a little long. Ive done a hong kong deal and it came in 1 month+ I dont remember how he shipped it though.

selling one must mean i get two more...right?

I always have one too many when i figure i always need one more.

I got this at the moment. Parcel was sent US mail, so no traceability, but I've been promised it was sent.

I see Paypal are giving you an option to 'protect' your paymnent in case goods don't arrive - dunno how long you have to wait for them not to arrive though.

I sent a couple of things UK recorded delivery, and the royal mail only trace it 'til it leaves the country (but charge extra for it).

Courier companies are the best option, but also the most expensive - 100 gram tube with decals in it £30-£65 - Royal Mail £4.20.

Generally i have been quoted 4-6 weeks for parcels sent via surface from abroad, i personally go for the air mail when i can as i just can't stand the wait, logo_member2.gif

I made a deal from Hong Kong to Hawaii and suface mail took a month and few days.

My experience may differ from other countries:

If Insured, Sender needs to contact his/her courier and fill out paper work. Process takes about 3 weeks to receive any answer from courier.

Not insured, hmmmm Out of luck buddy! :-(

I always try to have my parcels sent with a Delivery Confirmation Receipt. That way we can both track the parcel in the event it does get lost.

Made a deal with you and it took about 3 weeks surface mail ;-)

Good Luck Chriss! I hope everything works out.

Even Airmail can take a long time. It also seem the bigger the slower. Ive send 2 parcels off on the same day (2 Dec) one to LA and one to NY. The LA one (5.5 KG's) took almost 7 weeks, while the NY one (1 KG) took 2 weeks!!!

Sometimes even a decal sheet can take 3 weeks by airmail!!!

Chris,

You can let PayPal know about this and PayPal will lock up this sender's money until the problem is resolved.

I am in 1 of these cases now. A Loctite GT-R sending via air parcel to usa, tomorrow will be 30 days already. The buyer took 3 months to pay but in turn he locked up my money in 20 days.[8)]

Only works if the vendor still has $$$ in his PayPal a/c though.

If he's withdrawn it, nothing buyer can do... [B)]

Ya, but a fraudster would keep his/her PP a/c empty, so that really only penalises "good" sellers more than the shonky ones. Latter would probably have restarted trading under a new eBay ID, email a/c etc.

There should be warning bells once a vendor says he can't access the $$$ in his eBay a/c... [xx(]

...And where might I find this Japanese trader?

Does he have an email/website?

Good service is something I always appreciate...

Yeah I have also noticed some Japanese traders have low shipping time. I bought of ebay a 2002 Raybrig NSX Team Shirt signed by both drivers and team owner Takahashi Kunimitsu himself, got it for $120 with buy it now. And it arrived to me in the UK from Japan in 5 days. Now thats fast shipping, also it wasn't a knock off either, it was a genuine team item[:D][8D]. usually packages from hong kong and japan take about 2 weeks to get to me, I longest a parcel has taken is around 2 and a half weeks. which is still pretty good, especially for the money u save over the Uk kits prices, etc.

Thanx

Being more of a seller, I always send my parcels recorded delivery, no exceptions. My most recent delivery was from London, England, to New York, USA. UPS collected it 2.30 on Tuesday afternoon, it arrived with the buyer before midday on Wednesday. OK, so he paid £108.00 for the shipping costs inc. insurance, but the box weighed just over 10kg. Superb service, must have gone by private jet or something. My motto is that all sellers should send everything recorded, you can then check on them quite easilly by the tracking number. Needless to say my NY buyer was very happy, so am I.
