Something smells fishy. I was watching the new built sand scorcher and noticed this guy (lowpress) used the $1200 BIN price. looks like he has been bidding up a storm in the past 30 days. In fact he has won $113,063.49 in auctions. Maybe this guy is legit but it looks like a scam. I feel sorry for all of the sellers he has screwed. It is a pain in the *** to get the final value fee refunded. Take a look at his bidding history

Perhaps he just wants to rid the world of RC.

Really can't see the point in false bidding - doesn't achieve anything, and it's anonymous so noone would know who you were if you were trying to prove a point.

I been lucky on all my auctions so far, but I 'spect it'll happen one day......

Ooohh mask.gif, zero fb & "Singapore" too; guess we'll just have to watch & learn. [8)]

Not very discriminatory, is he... Boats, Planes, Cars, Trucks.

Love the last thing he bid on too $12k for 2016 'bit'-clone cars in 42 cases. Gee whiz, wonder how much the shipping will be from SoCal to S'pore. [V]

It seems very suspecious, but there is also a small possiblity that he is honest, from time to time rich buyers from asia pop-up, there is also one now from Indonesia who is buying all NIB Tamiya kits and he has only postive feedbacks.[:P](green from jealousy)[;)]

Come on guys, I agree this guys buying habbits do seem a bit unusual but I think until the feedbacks start rolling in or we hear from some one has dealt with him direct, its a bit early to suggest he has 'screwed' anyone.

Guess we will just have to watch and see.

Hi NetsmithUK.

I have to overall agree with you. Only time will tell. But I can see some of the other standpoint. Possibly a kid just out to reak havoc on the some auctions was my initial gut feeling...

Notice that ,ost of the auctions were ended by using a But it now option. I wish ebay had away of allowing the seller to reverse an auction that was ended with a buy it now. It only invites abuse. Look at Ebay's point of veiw, if this is fraudulent, they are gfoing to miss out on about $4000 in end of auction fees.

Dunno about you folks, but hear it from the horse that Singapore's economy isn't going the best at the moment. Its been downhill pretty much last 3 yrs and the techwreck didn't help either. Unemployment is pretty darned high and besides, average starting wages there are in the region SGD2000-2500 per month (US$1400?). It would be pretty hard finding US$113k to blow on frivolous items in these "CASH IS KING" times.

But ever optimistic, I too wait and see. [:)]

Well, that's true Theo... but generally the 'rich' are usually already rich before the economy went down, and if they're smart enough to get that rich they wouldn't be spending $$$ like that all of a sudden.

There's also a big difference between 'rich' and 'wealthy'. Bit like olde-riche and new wealth.

Either way, take it from me too that both these types aren't the majority buying RC cars in Oz. It would be suicide setting up a hobbyshop in a 'classy' neighbourhood.

No, some people get rich in bad financial/political situations, like parasites...

The rich ones buying RC aren't a majority, but one of them is usually enough to ruin half of the auctions you bid on, trust me, I know [;)]

Yeah, there'll always be someone who's morality is lower than ours, willing to make a big buck and still be able to sleep at night... but more often than not most of the "new rich" don't stay that way too long. [;)] Just his luck being at the right place, right time.

Ah, well... we attend these things for a bit of fun, but it still ain't life-n-death imho. You'll never find 'love', 'health' or 'family' up on eBay... but I didn't say you can't buy 'happiness'!! [:D]
