Id say its the lid condition, and lack of a close up of the inside of the box. A NIB Countach goes for about $950-1100, ive had one listed, but without lid for ages for $750 and no takers. So I guess a lids worth $250 at least []

While I spend quite a bit of time in Akihabara, its not where I get most kits I sell, though occassionally I do if theres a promo on new items. Theres one shop there that sells some vintage stuff, Hirobo and AYK but way overpriced.

A return ticket to Japan could be around £400. If you bought enough then it would be very worth it. Might get plugged by customs when you return with 30 NIB's!!!???[8D]

I think I bought my Pajero in Akiharbara. Is there a model shop just round the corner from the train station? or has my mind turned to sputtem!!

There are no real places you can just go buy vintage (except as mentioned above), its having the right contacts. The only way to find some vintage on a trip would be going to a trade show, Tamiya open house etc.

Around Akihabara station there are 5 shops selling RC, though only 3 are really worth a visit. All the new stuff is 30~40% off Japanese retail (the price given on the box after the item number, usually in blue). One shop always has a bargain corner with items up to 70% off but this rarely includes Tamiya kits.

id="Times New Roman">I went to another shop near the Honda factory where I was working. It's in Saitama and the station we got off at was Shiki or something. If you come out of the station and turn left on the main road, then go until you get a flyover. Turn left onto the road that is the flyover, and walk for about 10 minutes, it's there on the right. Well it was 5 years ago!!

It was full of RC cars. I bought the hop-up parts for my Pajero there. Wish I'd bought the whole bl**dy shop now!!!...
