You mean on new stuff, Adam?

Yeah, its pretty crappy over there in Oz too, Tamiya kits start from about A$250 (US$130) up to about A$600-750 for the 04s. Certainly nothing "cheap" unless you count the SuperHornet for A$150.

Propably money is not a problem for him, if he spent more than double of the "normal" market price. Some people dont need to wait for the right time, they see something, they like it, they buy it [;)]

Actually good that they exist, so that clever sellers can make their living and we feel better if we buy 2 NIB 3-speeds or 6 nice built ones for that money... [;)]

Yeah this guy has some collection already. Not bad for only 7 feedbacks!!! most of these are for NIB's and a nice Sand Scorcher.

The RR NIB sounds like a decent buy. Probably get $300 back for the NIB body set it came with.

Wonder if he will get bored and want to sell them all again in a couple of months?

I'd love a Rough Rider. I'm jealous[:I]

For sanity's sake, hope he won't be wishing to get his $$$ back!! [:)]

****! Ended early again! And I was just about to bid...

Seriously though, that same guy bought a used SS from me and he's really nice. Says he will probably put his stuff up here on TC when he gets the time.

To the seller's credit, he ended it the proper way by running the transaction through ebay. I hate the ones the end early and the seller's reason is that "the item is no longer available", so you don't know what really happened.

You can say *that* again... buyer bidded 6 days ago and survived 11 attempts at the throne.

Wonder how much his 'max bid' was...!! [;)]

Also worth pointing out that another guy had to have a $3000+ bid to make it go this far!!!

Wonder if he really wanted it too? Or was he just employed to push the price up?

Or am I being silly? Seems like an awful lot of money though[:0]

Are the plugs missing from the tranny? or do they come without when in the kit?

We will never now, but lately often the 2nd happens [}:)]

The plugs aren't fit on the tranny, but are in the ultraexpensive Bruiser rubber parts bag [;)][:D]

Anyway, this guy is a real warfield, shoots with $$$ [:)][:D]

I hope he wanted it and he got what he wanted. Money is not the issue here... if we have it, we spend it and each of us has our own perspective on what is expensive. For me a $500 Scorcher is expensive but a $800 NIB 959 is great value whilst for somebody else the thought of spending more than $200 on a toy is disgusting. Who would have thought that 15 years after production ended you could still buy this stuff... it is harder to buy parts for a 1999 TA02 than for a 1986 Scorcher... don't you just love the free market[;)]!

I hope the buyer enjoys it... whether we get our kicks from staring at a NIB Blazer[:P], get a silly grin when we see our new built Avante[:)], laugh our ***** off when our Wild Willy does a barrel-roll[:D], frown at our TA01 Lancia restoration that has not progressed for 6 months[xx(], puff our chests out when our TB01 Subaru kicks our best mates *** at rally racing[;)]... its all the same thing and it is what makes this hobby and also this site so good! Invest what you want in this hobby and take what you want from it and as long as you walk away with a few smiles then it has been worth it!

PS... diching the diplomat for a second, new built 959s kick ***!!![}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)]

I don't mind seing paying people even $10000 for a Bruiser, if that its is market value, but find paying double price than propably a similar one sold few weeks ago plain dum, sorry [;)] Not that I care, but I also won't cheer it. Good though that such buyers exist, so sellers/people with brain can make a buck extra ;)

I was more applauding what njmlondon posted - and the attitude within it.

I would not call anyone dumb - cause my version of "dumb" would be smart to others..........I must say that I would not pay that for a bruiser ....but who am I to judge what others do? Then again if I had that kind of money to blow - there are other things in this hobby I would pay that for ! [:D]

Please dont take this post the wrong way - I am not being argumentative.

Mate, don't worry, wasn't reffering to your post. [:)]

Also, to avoid possible missperceptions, I stated this action (the buy) dumb, not the buyer, everyone sometimes makes dumb actions in his life, independant from how intelligent he is, I also have overpaid so many times in my life for something [:(][:I]

mmmmmm, i think this thread is meandering off into dodgy territory so perhaps we should leave it there or get back on track while its clear no personal slur was intended.

'Dumb' is a bit of harsh word in some areas and is one which especially doesn't come across well in the written electronic world.

If the buyer, has the money and wants something now (regardless of what he could have bought for last week or might have been able to buy for next week) and pays the money i don't think this automatically makes either him or his actions dumb. It might not be what any of us would do, (then again given enough money it might be ;) ) but we don't know what the buyers situation or motive is so it is a little unfair to make comments like this.

I said I meant the action and not him, I also have made dumb buys. Also I stated its just my personal opinion, not a absolute truth or wisdom. Its for me like people buying silly products from shopping channels on TV while they can find the same thing much cheaper on the street, simply not a good buy.

If I am not entitled to an opinion or judgement because its about a 3rd persons action fine, pls delete it, but then also positive comments about it shouldn't be allowed IMHO, just objective facts and discussions about Tamiyas.

lol - how did I know my last post wouldn't be the last word on the subject [:D] This is just what I mean about these types of threads they just rummble on and on and on and on ...

I won't drag it out any longer that I have too...

Nothing needs deleting here.

Theo - you are absolutely right everyone has an opinion and can voice them here, thats not the issue, how people voice those opinions is. All I was trying to do was point out that if I was the buyer and I was reading the thread then I would probably be upset that someone who doesn't know anything about me or my situation had described my actions as 'Dumb'.

If as the buyer I had read...

- I don't understand why he bought at this price, when he could have probably got it cheaper by shopping around or waiting

or

- There is no way I would ever had paid that much for a bruiser

All of those things would be fine, as you are making comments about yourself not the buyer. Words like 'dumb' etc are just a bit personal and the type of thing that can easily ne taken badly.
