Chris,

You're right - I think the kit looks very nice and is quite interesting. My guess is that it's a wonderful collectors item regardless of it not being Tamiya. In fact, it's quite tempting to bid on.

I think its from a company called Grip Eidai, one of the oldest belt driven 4WDs, 1/12 Scale, not 1/10. A friend of mine has a Jeep with the same chassis, bought it only for $40!!, the bodies are from thin plastic like lexan, no details like Tamiya, if you ask me its overpriced, but since its rare maybe someone finds it worth it, everything is worth as much as you want it... [;)]

Actually FAV has a "Whisky Buggy" decal on it, if you don't know what it is, it would be the first thing to name it [;)]

All seem very expensive to me. Even the start prices are hi, I guess the guy is a bit of a money maker[;)]

Ckeck out the shipping costs[:0]

Theo,

Ahh,,,yes you are correct as usual! Thanks for the confirmation. You are like the "Yoda" of Tamiyaclub![:)]

I actually like the term "whisky buggy". Leave it to Tamiya to keep things fun and interesting!

Take care buddy,[8D]

Beware of the non-Tamiya forces my son, they will always try to get you on their side, but you have to stay pure vintage Tamiya enthusiast! Let the Technipower be with you! [:)]

Take care mate!! [8D]

I asked the guy he said

"This is a classic Japan model company called "EIDAI".

This company changed the name into TAMIYA later on.

Do a little research bro..."

SO its tamiya but in another name?

Tell the guy:

"Yo bro, Tamiya exists since 50? years with the same name and that car is later than the Sand Scorcher. Gimme 5 bro!" [;)][:)]

There could be a chance that it was bought from Tamiya although I don't think so. Here is what I found on this webpage http://24valve.com/manufacturers1.htm :

Eidai Eidai Co.Ltd., Japan The former Grip Zechin models were rereleased as World Zechin models.

World Zechin Eidai Corporation, Japan no Grip Zechin models were released under this brandname in 1980, but they disappeared from the market in 1981.

He is right though, everybody should do his own research and don't trust what everybody says [;)], especially made up stories just to sell more expensive [}:)][xx(]

He had another "bargain" yesterday, a NIB Midnight Pumpking for only $420 BIN, more expensive than the Hilux he is selling, unfortuntelly he seems to have removed it... [:(][:D]

I was looking a his stuff and can't belive his prices, BIN Hotshot body for $188, starting at $150.

I couldn't afford to buy from him. [:(]

Whisky buggy...

Yeah, I got some leftover FAV decals and they include a "whisky buggy" one. Pretty funny if you ask me... [;)]

You don't see a FAV around in a fancy collored scheme, as in the movies on Roby's site... I wonder how good it would be for real... [:D] Everyone has that military green scheme... [v]

Try it Sjoerd, think it would make a great looking beach buggy, better than the Wild One! If I find another one will also paint it non-military, btw mine doesn't have a military green but brown scheme... [:D]

I want to try... But I still haven't got a FAV! [:o] My m8 who got one sold it on Ebay before I could say yes... [xx(] It was practically new built too! [:o] [:(] Oh well, it'll come some day! [:D]

Get the picture: Cool fancy colors, driving on the beach - but I'll leave the machine gun on! [}:)] (just in case it gets 'STOLEN' (Sand Rover) [:o)] ) Is everyone so affarid of the colors?!?! [:o] [;)] [:P]

This guy likes changing his ID - let's hope there is no 'reason' for him to do so... [;)]

I think he is just some kind of 'scammer' [;)] LOL His prices are ridiculous and he is probably in it for the money only, he in the wrong place - I think the poor man is lost. [:D]

Many people are in for the money only, but still most of them are fair and nice, one doesn't exclude the other [;)]

The FAV would make a killer dune buggy, when I get around to building my my new built FAV and and restoring my Wildone, I will have enough parts for a play car. I think the FAV driver with a Wild one head would look great. I have an extra FAV hood cover.

If I didn't already has a couple of FAV I would never even think about painting them other than the Camo paint jobs, They look too cool in their Military livery

He obviously thinks it's worth $300 - and if you REALLY want it bad, you could buy it for $350 to save getting outbid - then everyone's happy!

Hey sjoerd - I thought ALL cars should be "painted exactly to the manufacturers specs" - or something like that on your site?[:I][:o)]

Seriously though - the FAV would make a Killer Beach Buggy - I saw one in Yellow and Blue a few years ago - it looked Killer !!
