Hello all:

I am not sure if this has been posted or not, so here goes. My question is this. When are the prices on Ebay the lowest during a particular year. It appears that this is a cycle and we are in the midst of high-price portion of the cycle.

Anyone have any ideas?

I have heard that christmas drives the prices up and after christmas they tend to go back down. Whats weird to me is right now I'm looking for a Bruiser and the prices seem ok for a used in good condition truck 300-500. Maybe they will go lower after xmas!!! You can always look through the auctions that have already ended.

For the last 3-4 yrs, the months leading up to Xmas is generally known as the 'silly season'. Albeit now with all this global uncertainty since the dotcom crash, there's not much evidence of it in recent months.

Or have we all just become accustomed to it all? [:D]

Are we looking at same Ebay? [B)][:0]

Prices were skyhigh in the last 2 months, especially for mint/NIB rare cars, exceptions are as said the 3 speeds...

Ranger body for $300+, just to name one of the last "bargains"

You say the Ranger body for $300 was expensive, but he sold a Sand Scorcher body at the same time for $405. The SS has a little more detail ( chrome parts etc. ) but they are from the same era. Rough Rider bodies ( which are very basic )can be $250+. One sold recently for +-$155 though. So there are exceptions.

This is a very fickle market though because it is very specialist

Yes and that SS body had even scratched clear parts! [B)][:0]

Yeah your right, I forgot about that!! I think the Ranger is a little underated. I've just finished building mine and it is a superb body. Actually has a lot of detail if you bother to paint it right.

Of course we are not picking at you, you start with very fair prices, if people bid so high its their problem, nothing wrong you did!

Yes, it was a strange year, most of its months very low prices, except last 2, you could find a NIB Super Champ for $450! And you are right, mid-era cars (Frog, Blackfoot, Lunchbox) prices have dropped compared to previous years, especially used cars don't bring money...

I think in general, prices on ebay are down. I wish I had more extra cash to buy the stuff I desire. There have been a few exceptions. there have been some crazy prices paid in the recent past. I think this has to do with the increased popularity of collecting and focusing on only the most desirable of kits.

No "picking-on" was intended. I saw that you had the Sand Scorcher on BIN for a few weeks for $470, but no takers. I think if you have an auction with a $10 or so start price then you can't be fairer. People set the price, which is why yours and some other sellers auctions are good for judging the real price levels.

Actually the $470 body was sold. I received another body the same week and the auction was for a second one.
