Another first for me...

An Ebay user, with zero feedback, no current auctions, no bids on any items, and an ebay member since 2001, located in the US, emails me with some beginner type questions about one of my auctions. I reply to his questions. He emails back with a few more questions, including that he is very intrested and could he get it without going through the bidding process. I told him to look for a RTR setup. Was he just trying to set me up if I agreed to sell outside of Ebay? Has this happened to anyone else? I am about to search Ebay to see what else I should do.

in my experience, i would be inclined to let the auction run...ebay has rules to protect u as well as the buyer!!! i have both asked for an auction to close early & ended early for others but in this instance, with no way of knowing what he is like, i would say let it run!!! seems odd that a long term member has no auction feedback......think u r right to be wary!!!

if he is genuine & wants it he will bid!!!! hold your nerve, dont be in a hurry to sell, most of the bidding happens in the last 24 hours anyway....as we all know!!!

hope this helps

Update...

Turns out he has been racing for years, and I may have offended him by suggesting he look for a RTR. He is no longer interested in my auction. [:)]

Doesn't sound like someone seriously interested to me???? why not now just cause you mentioned a rtr?? either he wanted the car or he didn't [B)][:P]

Sounds like u did the right thing by not ending the auction, he would have just changed his mind once u had probably [;)]

I have ended auctions for ppl before, but not untill i get the money in my hand. Nothing to lose then[:D]

Yes OMen666, but Ebay would lose out on its final value fee.

It must be my day...

Just after one of my auctions ended today, I received an email from a bidder (snipper), who said his bid did not make it in time. Would I take $10 over the winning bid and sell to him. Sorry, but No. I will pass his offer onto the winning bidder. I wonder if the winning bidder will want to sell to someone who wanted to hose him?? I think/hope not.
