is anybody planning to make a major purchase(ie. NIB bruiser) AFTER the war ends?

i'm thinking about selling my NIB Bigwig and wonder if i should wait 'till the war is over...

I make my buying decisions soley based on my how fat my pocketbook looks. Since I have been imersed in a sizable project at work and racking up a lot of overtime, I can forsee some purchases in the future for me.

This war will have a lot of negative effects. I think international travel of goods will slow. Shipments will be subject to more inspection at the ports of entry. This could slow mail delivery between countries. The threat of retaliatory terroists acts on American soil will cause people to tighten their spending. This will inturn cause more economic downturn that will reverberate around the world.

So to answer your question, I would wait to sell your bigwig and see how the Ebay market pans out.

Frankly I am tightening up on my spending. I am pretty worried about all this war business. I am unemployed right now and my job prospects get thinner if we indeed go to war. I live right outside Washington DC and as I write this there are F-16 Fighters passing overhead.

I am not happy. This is a real worry.

I CANT HONESTLY SEE WHAT THE badword SOME PEOPLE ARE THINKINGid="red">.........as Theo posted - have a look at the last link.[:(!]

I think it is in poor taste that we are discussing our toy car purchase decisions - and how the potential death of hundreds of thousands of people are affecting those decisions.....

Come on guys.

I think you are looking at it all wrong- not the potential of 100's and thousands of people to die that affect my hobby decisions, it is the potential liberation of millions that affect my buying and selling.

Unfortunately the truth is that war, whether we want it or not, does affect the economy. Over here in the UK I have had to witness people with families to support being made redundant just because companies are scared of what is going to happen but I have to agree with Darryn, it is in poor taste to discuss how a war can affect selling a toy car.

perhaps i was misunderstood. i should've said "would the state of the economy make it a bad time to sell..."

but regardless, you guys would've all understood what i mean by that. playing with words would've really made some of u feel any better?

i dunno maybe it's just me but...i feel it's a bit hypocritical to pretend as if the world is right and sound because it's not. the real world actually affect our little hobby, not by our own choosing though.

looks like i've already crossed the line. i do have an opinion about what's going on outside our tamiya land but this is not an appropriate place to talk about it so i will stop.

i do appologize if my original post made some of u feel uncomfortable. i can see why and i respect that. i just want a bit of the same consideration in return...

Totally agree with you. However I dont think anyone was being a "hypocrit"........

Yes - "playing with words" certainly would make us feel better...[:D]Being aware of others feelings on the matter - no matter how "veiled" you make the question, would certainly be appreciated.

I am not the only one that saw the potential hurt in the original post - as innocent as it may have been from you.

A liitle forethought to just how others may feel about what you are saying - BEFORE you post would go a long way. THAT SHOULD GO FOR EVERYONEid="red">.......not just this thread.

THANKYOU JEALOUSE for being man enough to apologise.[^]

I am sure you get plenty of respect......if not - let me know.[B)]

Cheers

Sorry guys. This is not the place for any sort of discussion to do with the war or any conflict. It will only lead to aggression on this board.

Anyone wishing to debate any facet of the war and its effects should search out one of the many boards set up for such debates. I am locking this thread and will lock/delete any other which crop up.
