I think actually there is a thread on this topic, don't know if it was the same seller though, but same "scam" for Tamiya cars. The auctions are not for the pictured items, but for "the information on how to obtain them" for a few bucks.

If I remeber correct the Tamiya cars "auctioned" was the TXT-1, but not sure.

it was for the information on how to buy one. Really strange, its just a big con like the auctions for pictures of an XBOX. Really dodgy if you ask me

It appears that people are only bidding for a website URL, at which they'll be able to spend a further $75 for the very slim chance that they might end up with some electronic goods one day... or most likely not!

And the bidding is up to about $150AU already?! I'd better get my bid in quick! []
