I saw this before it was bougt and thought it was'nt such a bad price. I mean NIB body sets go $400/$500 and the glass is one of the first bits to look really bad on a used car. It's also very rare to see one for sale on it's own.

Remember it is nearly impossible to restore used glass like you can re-paint/restore a body, driver etc. to new condition.

The one in this auction looks pretty good, not yellow at least!!..

True enough. Just that i wouldnt pay that for used glass but other people are perfectly happy with that price. If thats what people want to spend their money on then great, especially from the sellers point of view. I personally have never had a yellow glassed scorcher. All the ones i bought were clear.

Is yellowing a common problem then? I suppose it must be the light.

Not really sure because I have never bought used glass before, but I have seen a few auctions where the description says it has yellowed slightly.

I just thought that if you are restoring a scorcher then this is highly likely to be a part you would need.

When you think a good scorcher could be worth £300/£400 or so then £30 for an important part like glass is'nt so bad.

It's all down to the individual in the end I suppose. I just thought it was'nt that bad a deal for a rare part.

My headlight lenses have yellowed, so it must be a light/plastic combination

I guess it's a bit like white plastic parts ( wheels etc. ) they tend to yellow over time, unless they are stored out of daylight.

I suppose the clear parts are not 100% UV stabile... If I remember it right, some body bits from the 959 weren't was well... [?]

I am not sure if the radio box is the exact same material as the glass and lenses, but the one I have was quite yellow but that was very easily solved! [^] If it's the same problem, yellowing of the glass/lenses shouldn't be much of a problem as well then... [:o]

[Edit: I need to go back to typing class... [;)] [:P] ]

Yes, they seem pretty similar, possibly the same material, good polishing reduces the yellow but you can't bring them 100% to non-yellow condition, or Sjoerd did you find the ultimate solution? [?]
