I don't usually post in the Ebay forum but this little news tit-bit was too good to pass up.

I admit I haven't been checking Ebay much in the last few weeks (mostly cos I was broke and Saving money for Snetterton ;) but a guy at my LHS who is pretty clued up on Ebay has said that he's seen the prices of Sand Scorchers, Frogs and numerours other Vintage Tamiya crash to a unheard of low level?

is this true? has anyone else noticed this? I took a quick look yesterday but couldn't see much wrong except for there seemed to be More used frogs for sale than normal and they were at fairly lowish prices but still had a number of days to run, if there has been a "Flash Flood" of these items then that might explain a slight dip in prices but a Price Crash??? i have noticed a price drop, mainly in the popular cars(scorchers, hiluxes etc).

scorchers have rarely reached the 200 pound mark in the last few weeks, a couple of hiluxes have been on and fetched reasonable amounts, but nowhere near as high as before.

I've noticed a slight surge in the amount of new-in-box rare kits lately. They're certainly not cheap... but definitely a bargain IMHO!

All I can add is my suggestion to buy-em-up now, guys. The're great to look at, touch, feel, even smell! [;)][;)][;)] Give 'em another 10 years, or so, and they'll value will go thru the roof![:0][:0][:0]

Myself, at 53 years old, I'll buy 'em, build'em, and hope I'm around long enough to wear 'em out! If I'm around, at 65 years old, I won't care about prices! [B)][B)][B)]

All depends if a warehouse load of them turns up at once from somewhere and they become common place. Probably wont happen but you never know...

I hope it does though, I'm not in this for the money, but for the joy of collecting and restoring these old cars - if what you mention would happen, ok the prices probably won't skyrocket, but it will open up the chance for even more people to enjoy what only a few are lucky enough to do today - such as smelling (!) or simply just eyeballing a vintage NIB kit.

If someone finds a warehouse full, prices will sag for a short while, if at all. Example: Between February and March of 2002, I sold 312 mint, new, RC10's on, and off, eBaY. In March 2002, I sold dozens of Sonic Fighters too! Now.... RC10's have DOUBLED in value and Sonic's values even went up. There's a butt for every chair, I hear. [:D][:D][:D]

As per the price dropm, it is obvious some peoples are selling their jewells on the bay. Isn't there any tax related deadline coming, this would expain why.

I'm Dissapointed in you Bill [V] after all that stuff I bought from you, you didn't even offer to sell me an RC10 [:(]

were they the original first generation gold tub 10's if so then I'm after one, but must be original and more importantly UNMODIFIED.

Vintage Tamiya cars & parts on Ebay always go soft in the spring. Prices will start climbing around November. It's been that way for years. Jim

If I'd knew you then, my friend, I would have eMAIL'ed you first. As you know... I've certainly sold you enough, since then![:D][:D][:D]

If all guys were as dependable, friendly, and honest as you...I'd save

$$$$$ on all those dreaded eBaY "listing" and "final value" fees![}:)]

You're probably right about April 15th![:(][:(][:(] I have bought a Koyosho Icarus and a Wild One, this week, (both NIB) to build. For whatever reason they went for what I could afford, is GREAT![:D][:D]
