Reserve price and proxies

Hi there.

I've had a quick search for this, but I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.. hope someone can help!

If you're bidding on an auction, and it has a reserve set... for example, if £50 is the reserve (not that you know this of course).

If you're the first bidder, and you put in a proxy bid of £60, will it automatically hit the reserve price and stop there? Or will it stay at the minimum, and the auction remains at "reserve not met" status?

I'm a bit confused![:I]

It should bid up to the reserve price, its only if you do not hit the reserve that it shows the minimum bid amount to beat the next highest bidder.

I didnt think it bumped up to the reserve it just puts the reuqired amount in as normal

If the reserve is 50, you are first bidder and you bid 60 the auction will be 50.

Yup, it will show 50 and bid proxy up to 60 as needed.
