I had 3 car kits from XXXXXXXXX in my watch list on ebay, then today I went to see how things were going and I notice 3 new items 2 of which were mini-z bearings in my watch list. It seems xxxxx changes the whole listing with a day or two left then relists the kits as new items, slightly annoying having to go through XXXXXXXX list again, whats the catch?

There is another seller that does the same thing. This seller states in the auction "If no bids I change the item in the last 12 hours".

I have seen the item I was watching change from a lexan body kit to a Nascar diecast.

One good thing though, this seller relists the item with a lower bid start price.

Darryn1, you missed one reference (i think) to the name in the 1st post.I do agree with erpland though, it is annoying. The only possible way to prevent (or at least try) is to bid on the item straight away and meet the reserve. At least then they see there is interest in the item. I know you probably have to pay more then but if you really want the part then its an ocupational hazard.

In answer to the question. The reason is to save money by changing the listing to something that will hopefully sell.

Something that I thought of doing (I obviously never did!) was that if I was to sell something outside of ebay if the auction ended without it meeting the reserve. It would then be possible to relist a different item and not have to pay the relist fee, if it sells.

Might be worth a try[;)]

I'm glad this topic came up. I thought I was loosing it, seeing odd items that I never watch, like Nascar diecasts, show up in my list. I think I'll avoid these sellers.

Man, I think we overexaggerate our influence on Ebay- I do not see what the big problem is if somebody is bringing up an issue and wants to use real names, I mean he is not slamming the person, just questioning a tactic. I could see if you used swear words and tried convincing everybody not to bid on their stuff, but quite frankly, short of a seller completely screwing over a buyer, I would take a persons issue with a grain of salt. Then again, maybe I am completely and utterly out of line, after all, I dont own this website, sure do enjoy it though.

I really dislike that changing **** these sellers pull. **** annoying. Also, like Cavscout I cannot understand what was so offensive about the seller in queestion's name being obscured.

Hi Guys,

I don't really want this to flare up again, as we have been through it lots of times already. Basically we have a rule where we don't talk about sellers or buyers directly. (There are a few exceptions to this, with the lines of redlinematch etc) It just leads to far too many problems for the board, as many of those buyers and sellers are members of our community.

Its no different to us removing your nickname, if someone started a thread about how they didn't like how long its take you to pay for an item etc. [thats not aimed at any of the posters here [;)]]

Debates about buying and selling issues/tactics/ are fine - we just don't want to make these things personal.

If you really feel angry about people tactics then the place to complain is ebay direct and let them sort it out.

Hey Scott - I have no drama's with your opinions mate - in fact in some ways I agree with them !! Chris and I thrashed this one out ages ago...........and it is simply just too much of a pain to control the sometimes childish postings that happen here from time to time (NOT THAT THIS WAS ONE OF THEM) [:D]

Just stopping the potential slanging match before it starts.

Cheers
