Dunno if it's just me, but is anyone else hacked off with all the daft things added to auction pages?

Just lately, I've had one page with a clock that follows the mouse cursor, whilst playing a really annoying tune, that has transition fades between pages (click 'view sellers other items for instance);

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...3131258783&rd=1

And another one that has the same stupid clock, but opens a seperate 'sellers other items' page without clicking anything(no link, live auction)

Is any of it really necessary? Surely for 56k dial ups it must be a real pain in the aristotle.

Especially that **** music[:(!]

I totally agree.

Also have you noticed the amount of auctions with a really condescending description. It's something that really annoys me when sellers start going on about "how rare their item is" and that "you should use BIN because the item will be sold soon".

Another one I saw was a guy saying how in the future his item would be worth between 2 and 3 times what he is selling for and that it's a good investment etc. etc.

Twinset,

I totally agree with you about the popups etc. its getting really bad now for 56K modem dial-up, firstly my ISP freeserve is always kicking me off the net[:(!] (if I can get on in the first place), and BT seem to think Hampshire, UK is not populated enough to get Broadband, so I can't even do anything about it.[:(!]

As for people saying how much their items are worth etc. This is OK if it is kept short and sweet eg:"Collectors item - 1981 release vintage tank" is more than enough to get the message accross and stop those "Are you mad thats just an RC car you are selling why is it £600?" questions you get from time to time, but when the seller makes comments about investment values, they are sailing pretty close to the wind interms of misrepresentation (which would make any sale contract voidable). Not to mention the fact that anyone who would spend that money on an RCcar would know what it is and what its worth.

Have to agree about the 'sellers other items' page that Twinset mentioned - it got me today and I ended up having to restart IE and 're-find' where I was.

Balmybaldwin,

Whereabouts in Hampshire are you? My mate at work recently badgered BT until they put broadband up in Alton. If you want to know more, email me and I'll put you in touch with him to swap notes. I know it's available down my end of the county (coast).

Unfortunately I'm on the Liss exchange and all the exchanges near me have been upgraded except ours[:(]

I would be interested to know what your friend did to BT - did he hold a technician hostage?

Liss, eh? I thought it was still a piece of tight string between two tin cans out there [:D]

Seriously, as far as I am aware, there is a process whereby you can lobby BT to provide a service if there is sufficient interest in your area. You'd really need to ask my mate... I just heard the irate phone-calls from the other side of the partition!

Of course you could always run a REALLY long extension cable down to Petersfield :-)

Mail me if you want more info - he might be able to help

Cheers
