LOLOL - some of this is just too funny guys !! LLLLLLOOOOOOOOLLLLLLL[:(][:D][^]

Willy.......ammmmmmmm with all due respect - we are not the ebay police - nor do we want to be. Who are we to judge whether or not someone is "dodgy".....on more than one occasion in this forum - people have been slammed for no reason. God forbid that a seller actually had a dud bidder !! nahhhhhh - that never happens does it ?[;)]

I like the "KEEP IT SIMPLE" idea.......just no posts to live auctions.

After all fella's - if something disturbs you so much - there is a little thing called "email" we all have access to.[:D]

Cheers

Maybe we should define what constitues a good reason to post a live auction. What if the post to the live auction was titled "Does this car look complete." "Is this a tamiya Hornet or Grasshopper?" And not allow a posts like "Check this outragious BIN price" "This car looks stupid"

I think, unfortunately, if there are exceptions to the rule it will get confusing and people will still post things they are not meant to. If people need to find stuff out could they just copy and paste text and pictures (is this possible/allowed?) from the auction without actually ever giving away the actual auction? or speak in general terms? e.g is £150 a fair price for shipping a WW2 from Japan, not www.ebay.com/rip-off/ww2/he-must-be-kidding

Thanks

P.S Oh Retro beat me to what i was going to say by 1 minute "I like the "KEEP IT SIMPLE" idea.......just no posts to live auctions."

Here is a good example. What if I wanted to know if these were Chris's reproduction scorcher decals or someone elses creation

Here is a pic from the DECALS for Tamiya Sand Scorcher auction

Isn't this the same as posting a live link to the auction. All you would to to do is search for Sand Scorcher decals and you could find the auction.

hi

but you don't have to say that this is taken from a live auction, you could just say "here are some decals that i have found". But i totally get your point, because as soon as someone finds that you are thinking of buying an item, the first place they will look is Ebay. But that can't really be helped.

Thanks

hi

well i didn't say that they were "just found on the internet", for all the reader knows, i could have taken the picture myself of decals i found at a car-boot sale, i was just giving a quick example of what could be said. But what i was trying to do was respond to what Shodog said: e.g if you needed to ask a question about something like the "if these decals are repros" there is no need to give a link to Ebay, or even say that they are on Ebay, just show the picture and something like "here are some decals, are they repros?" (obviously you wouldn't just say that). I'm not sure if i am for or against live links, but i believe if they need to be banned there are plenty of ways to ask the question you need answered without giving away a Link or that it is on Ebay. Hmm, this is one of those things i wish i'd had stayed out of. Er... maybe i should stop typing and go to bed.

Hi All,

As has been pointed out by several people. When you try and define some auctions as being ok and other not then it just muddies the water and there becomes a whole grey area inbetween, which causes problems.

With regard to the decals its a good example, you could have just emailed me and asked. I'd be 99% definate they were mine (mainly due to the layout be the same as mine) and some other WW ones that went through the other week. Its not really a problem for me, as like any other trade i do, once I have my money for them I don't really care what the buyer does with them.

Asking if items are complete or not, again will just drive the prices up and possibly ruin other people chances of bagging themselves a bargain.

The best bet if for the live link ban to stay in place - you can talk about it all you want afterwards and if you have a real burning issue with an auction while it is current, email a few people first, rather than just making it public.

Trying to alert the community about people pulling auctions is another one that can be done after the auction has been pulled - but I'm not sure this is one we'd want discussing here. Its annoying I agree, but I'm not sure its against the rules or illegal, so we wouldn't want to cast doubt or start rumours about sellers because of something like this.

We must remember that ebay has its own feedback system, forums and methods for dealing with scammers. That is where theses issues should first be discussed. If ebay back you up and email you or something is posted in thier forums, or user details as a result then its fine to link to it or post it here.

I blame the hot weather.
