Hi,

Was just wondering what other peoples experiences were on delivery times from outside their country. When I've purchased from hong kong and had it delivered to the UK via air mail its take 7 to 14 days. The only reason I ask is I purchased from a guy through e-bay who lives in the states and its a month since he said he posted it via airmail... any thoughts any one.

[?]I'd definately get in touch. I've had stuff sent from all over the world and airmail is pretty good. Don't panic though, i did buy a Sand scorcher from the US and it took over 2 months by airmail. No apparent reason or damage, i just think it must have needed a rest mid flight![;)]

Thanks Guys,

I have spoke to him and he seems confident he sent it but he did say "He thinks it went airmail" [?]. It just makes you abit concerned, how do we stand on time when it comes to trying to get your money back from e-bay or paypal.mmmmmmm.

I dont think a month is too long from the states, I have had things take 6 weeks, not just from ebayers but from respectable shops like tower, I would give it another couple of weeks.

Chances are it was probably sent surface post, which is cheaper but alot longer. If he only "thinks" hes sent it by air, I would guess that he hasnt.

One of my friends had to wait nearly 3 months for his Egress that was supposed to come airmail, but instead went surface mail the wrong way around the world (not such a small world eh?)

In my experience it usually takes around 10 days (even if you pay fast ems shipping at 50$US) from either USA or Hong Kong.

It's pobably having a rest.

The longest I have had to wait for shipping was 6 weeks, this was an item from Birmingham (UK) to Colchester (UK) it wasn't the carriers fault, it was the muppet I bought the item from. He admitted he didn't have the money to post the item (What happened to the £75 I paypalled him??) If I ever catch up with him........

HK to Australia from Stallamodels (airmail).... 7days from ebay win to Door.

HK to Australia from RCModelHK (airmail).... 21days but it got checked for quarantine

HK to Australia from Toyeast/Liksang (EMS)... 2 days!

HK to Australia from Toyeast (EMS)... 7 days ;)

JPY to AU from HBWorld 4 days (EMS)

JPY to AU HBWorld 6days (airmail)

Yeah I used to import goodies fr sale ;)

The moral is - things can be vastly different even byt he same shipping method.

I would not panic ! , I deal alot all over the world , I a guy sent a helicopter to me by airmail from the US and it took 2 months , I phoned every one trying to track it down with no luck , it did turn up in the end , I think customs , some times put them to one side for checking [V]

Most likely your delay is in customs. I ship stuff world wide and am often confused and delighted by the speed (and lack there of) a package can get where is is going. I recently sent Jezza a package (us to UK) and it was there in like 4 days. Sent similar package to canada and it took 2 months.....

Go figure! [?]

JDR, Tokyo: 3-5 days airmail.

Jsourbeck, US: 5-10 days airmail.

Singapore takes FOREVER to deliver my packages, and my experiences with Hong Kong is also that they are very slow.

Singapore/Hong Kong : 2-4 weeks.

I'm in Norway.

I got one going on at the moment - auction finished 27 July "was posted on the 30th" - still haven't received it from the US, but I've received stuff from Japan, Australia and Greece since[:(!]

I've just 'started the ball rolling' with paypal and ebay, so we'll see how long it takes now!

For past deliveries(to UK), I've had stuff, kits and big bits from Japan in four to five days depending on where the weekend fell, from Australia within a week, from Belgium in around 36 hours (cheers Bib) and Greece in four days.

Just to give you an update on my parcel which seems not to want to get to me, sent the person in question an e-mail very polite one say that I was going to ask E-bay or Paypal for my money back the response I got was, that he has sent it, He has proof "oh you don't say" and that he has not had much dealing with the uk but the dealings he has had with the UK and I quote "if it did not go airmail it can take 30 days or more........I have had customers in the U.K. not want airmail and it does take that long". Now I don't know about you lot but that says that he hasn't sent it airmail, cheap delivery by rowing boat is my guess. So what time span are we looking at here and do you think I should proceed with my action with e-bay or paypal. Answers on a post card please.....lol

I got one outstanding since July 30 from US-UK. Missed paypal deadline for complaining (30 days) so keep an eye on the calendar!

Am currently 'in discussion' with paypal, I've found the more people there you speak to, the further you get!

Ebay are a waste of time, four days, and so far I've had one automated reply, and one 'human' - the human reply prompted another question, so it'll be another couple o days before they get round to answering that!

Give it 29 days, then complain to paypal - if the goods do arrive, pay the guy again.

mmmm......i think i,m in the same boat as chris here.....i,ve been waiting for an optima (to keep my other one company), for a good couple of weeks now, and there,s no sign of it yet.... it is a bit odd though because i,ve bought stuff from the US before and its arrived well within 2 weeks. i even bought a 1/8th bike kit from hong kong last week - paid for it wednesday or thursday, and they shipped it friday - it turned up yesterday (wednesday). how can that be?, surely hong kong is further than america. its all a bit hit and miss sometimes, and what with this postal strike looming....

as for ebay helping with any possible re-fund, well i wouldn,t waste my time asking them!. they,re about as usefull as a chocolate fire place - even when you file a fraud complaint, they still dont do anything. as long as they get their share of the auction listing etc, i dont think they give a monkey,s about anything else...[:(!].

paypal did a spot-on job helping me get a refund for an ebay item last year. people slag them off, and yeh they are a bit sharky, but hey, i got a full re-fund in less than 3 weeks after i complained to them, which i thought was fair play!. it cuts it a bit fine though, if a parcel takes 30 days to arrive from overseas by ship/land, and there,s a 30 day limit to complain to paypal after the auction date....ooer..dont think i,ll think about that one too much......[8)].

dodgy old game sometimes innit!.

Yep, not even worth the time.

Just got a second reply from them - all they suggest is contacting Paypal, your credit card company, or phoning the buyer.

If the parcel is 'lost' it'll take one badword of a lot of goodwill to get the seller to make a full refund - and after all why should they - there are secure means of shipping, but they cost a fortune.

Unfortunately, cheap shipping includes the risk of loss, but luckily I've only had this problem once.

At the end of the day, if the parcel is genuinely 'lost', the seller is going to lose out, as Paypal just take your money back, so don't plan on buying from them again!

Just last nite, I bought a tiny little part from a regular seller, who clearly states 'ask about shipping before bidding' - totally ignored it, and bid anyway ($14 BIN) - shipping was $25 as this was the only way they could track the parcel.

Even if I waived my right to complain about non-receipt, they wouldn't flex on the charge, so it's obviously becoming a problem for them.

Hi,

and the saga continues, logged the problem with paypal this morning, the seller sent me this in an e-mail and i Quote "I told you it may take up to 30 days to arrive if not sent airmail..........Have you even checked with customs?,,,,,,,,,,"

I tried to speak to customs they send it was upto the sender to trace the parcel...mmmmmm once again our sender mentions "....If not sent by airmail", me thinks he still hasn't told me everything.....lol

LATE BREAKING NEWS

Just had an e-mail from the seller, he's now saying he never ships to uk and made an exception with me.....mmmmmm anyways says he would like us to bear the cost evenly? What are your thoughts, stick him out or get half my money back.

I would ring Paypal and get their opinion.

If you take the refund, only do so provided he is explicit in the reason for the payment, just so it can't be 'presented' as an inconvenience refund later!

this is quite an interesting thread, after all, nothing can be actually proved can it?. i mean, how do we know the seller posted anything at all?. if the parcel was posted and honestly lost in the post, how can that be proved?. if the item was insured, who pays up then?.

i,ve got two things going on with my sales at the moment. i,m still waiting for an optima from america - which is dragging on, and now i,ve got to post my madcap to australia. i asked the woman in the post office about tracking the item, and she says it can,t be done?. so i said, how do i know if it gets there?, and she just said that someone will have to sign for the parcel when its delivered. if its not picked up and signed for after 5 weeks, they send it back to me. i,ve got the item insured, but once its posted, basically, its out of my hands. if the buyer says it never arrived and wants a re-fund, how can i prove other-wise?.

the system seems full of loop-holes when you look at it from both sides, and relies on the honesty and good nature of the parties involved to settle any misfortunes.

looks like we,re all in the same boat! [8)].

You can send stuff fully traceable, but involves using companies like UPS or TNT and paying for their services - not good £ wise[xx(]

The trouble Chris and I are going thru is that our sellers have never shipped out of country before, so may well have sent the bits by cheapest means possible to save a few quid, and therefore stuck them on a boat!

Where the problem lies there, is that the various 'compensation' avenues open to us have time limits which don't cater for long transit periods.

Like I said earlier, paypal has a 30 day window, which is proving slightly flexible the more I hassle them, but even so, it's not endlessly available, I seem to have coaught it on the 'oh, go on then' limit and they seem to be helping.

The other thing that has been common in both our cases is that the seller responds real well to email once the 'authorities' get involved.

This is a tough one. I have sent a lot of stuff to the UK in the past. delivery times are a cr@p shoot. I have sent thing to Andy and they show up on his doorstep in just a few days. Then I sent my EX-Avante to UK claire and it almost took a month. Both of us were biting our fingernails. Right now I am dealing with a part I sent to Beligium well over a month ago. It appears that the buyer hasn't recieved it.

Normally Paypal requires you to send the item via a verifiable delievry method. In the US, shipping priority mail with a delivery confirmation would suffice. with international shipments, Paypal exempts seller from having to use a verifiable delievery method. so you might be out of luck trying to get your money back from a US seller.

Like the seller said, if you don't go with airmail, your package can and will take more than 30 day to arrive.
