I've just been quoted 35USD for shipping by a HK seller for a bodyset only...is it me or does that seem very expensive? [:0]

Depends

On the Royal Mail website, international shipping is quoted by volume, and due to the fragile nature of lexan bods, they're usually over packed, so you end up with a big/high volume box that weighs nothing!

I just checked a body with Tower, and they quote $17 for shipping

I've paid 15GBP for a full kit from HK before, 15-20USD for a body from Japan and they've all been well packaged as such and never damaged, other than when I bought off Mr HeiHeiHei....that's was too cheap to be good. 35USD just seems very expensive for a 20USD bodyset. Works out not much cheaper than buying from LHS.
