Don't hate eBay, hate the people who try and scam you. It isn't eBay's fault.

I don't mind people trying to scam me on the internet with things like eBay or AOL etc. Because I know that they NEVER ask for your CC information, as soon as I read something about "we need your credit card" it goes right into the trash.

Is that because they live in coffins and only come out at night - I AM THE CHOSEN ONE... [;)]

Had a call last week from one of my work mates,.(newbie seller on ebay),.. he was most distressed to find a Harley Davidson with a £6k buy it now price under his profile!,...just out of interest i asked the seller a question (asked what it did to the gallon [:D]) and i got a reply from a guy who reckoned he was a Doctor,.. had to go to Greece in the last week to look after his sick father who had been in an accident, on his death bed etc etc [;)],.. the bike was supposedly at TNT depot in Scotland,.and could only take payment by bank transfer,. then he would arrange the bike to be sent to me,.(never did get around to telling me the MPG figures!) ,. Turns out my mate had replied to one of these spoof mails, doh! [:0] ,...put him off ebay for a while i can tell you[:D]

Scammers are not only doing it on e-bay but also claiming they are from your bank such as HSBC, Royal etc... and ask you to comfirm your bank account no., chequing accout, credit card etc...

Is sad that individual would resort in trying to make a buck the illegal way and not channel their effort is making money legally, honestly and providing value in return for honest payment.

You get all walks in life. The good , the bad and the ugly

one thing i would recommend is to download the ebay toolbar with the account guard.

its green when your on an official ebay site so when you do go to the links these scam mails provide you can easily see its not a real ebay page, as the account guard goes grey on any site other that an offical ebay one.

i got another scam mail today telling me that my password had been entered incorrectly 5 times and ebay would suspend my account unless i varified my info - ie give away all my details on a spoof web page.

the account guard will help you and it makes you more aware of your actions online as its always there in your browser.

of corse the scammers are probably hard at work figuring a way to make fool the account guard,

just keep in mind that nowhere online is really safe from scammers,

there everywhere and thats a sad fact [:(!]
