They charge a crazy 21% interest rate. Really I don't know why people would use that service instead of using their credit card that would most likely have a lower interest rate

If ebay didn't offer financing, You can bet someone else would have come along to offer it. When Paypal started Ebay was all against it. they offered Billpoint which they touted as safer than Paypal. Paypal had such a huge market share that rather than ebay try to compete, they bought them

One service I am surprised that ebay don't offer is auction sniping.

And the finance company working with ePay is GE Capital. One of the worlds largest issuers of consumer credit. The GE Capital division of General Electric makes more *profit* than all other GE enterprises combined. Shocking huh?

Jim, don't give ePay any new ideas to make a buck. I *like* auctionsniper.com! [;)]

Bottom line is people will pay it, probably those that can least afford the money or the rates.

I wonder if they'll open up an Ebay Reposessions section next?

There is a logical explaination for that - from the 'greed' point of view: Why do we snipe? Exactly, to have a lower end price to win the item for. And as you might know, eBay charges a percentage of the end price - so the more people pay for an item, the more eBay fetches. [|)]

But then again, if others already offer it anyway - eBay might as well get along and offer it instead - not to miss out on those profits otherwise 'lost' to another company anyway. But a counter argument to that could be, that most people don't know or bother about auction sniping in the first place, therefore don't do it anyway - and it might be best not to bring that idea to those people... Again from the same 'greed' point of view... [;)]

Yes, this world is led by greed these days, no matter how sorry I might feel to say that... [V]
