Hi,

Wht are the rules on revealing your reserve price? Can't find anything on ebay!

Thanks

Don't think there are any rules against revealing reserve prices.

Although I don't see the point of listing an auction with a reserve, and then telling people what it is. You may as well start the auction at your reserve if you do that!

HI all. As long as we are on the subject.....Don't you love the auctions that say "No reserve" and have an opening bid of $99 or more?

On the very few occasions that I set a reserve price, I state that price in my auction. Why hide it? Jim

I agree with you but the human psyche is strange when it comes to trying to find a deal. It seems you get more bids and a higher ending price if you list something for $.01 with a $100 reserve than you do with listing something with a $100 start price.

There are no rules...I have seen the reserves listed in the discription...voltar I agree...No reserve and high start price..See it a lot on the Hilux and Sand Scorcher NIB...$1,000 start price no reserve..and I agree with Shodog..the pysche for the penny start and a 100 reserve I have seen work...Myself I hardly ever run a reserve auction..Maybe two or three out of hundreds..I start with a very reasonalbe prices, usually less than I paid for the item and take it from there..Most time I make a little money but not often..LOL Jerry

I agree with the current thinking regarding reserve prices. What the heck I agree with all you guys. What I do on occasion,is list something with a reserve. Start the bidding/auction with a low number, and hopefully bump the reserve.I have found starting with low prices doesn't gaurantee your costs will be met. Its always a **** shoot no matter which way you go. I almost never reveal my reserve. I do have fun with all the emails asking what the reserve is,but mostly don't say.All in good fun[8D]

It's not unusual to state the reserve price, regular non-internet auctions usually state the reserve in the catalogue and start lower - as has already been said I think it helps to get people interested. It is a bit strange though, especially when people put in the first bid at £1.00! [xx(][:D]
