Hello gents I am new to TC and relatively newish to RC.

I am looking for a cheaper way to get a new HPI savage RTR (my local model shop wants £369 [:(] ) and it struck me that due to the strong exchange rate from £ - $ (£1 - $1.89) using an American ebay retailer distributing to the UK would prove beneficial to the wallet.

This ebayer wants $105 / £55 for postage...Making the item still cheaper than me local! [^]

But I heard that I will have to pay customs fees when I sign for it, if its above a certain amount.

Yeah so anyway, cheers for any advice or tips anyone may have. Cheers.

You will most likely have to pay VAT,import duty and even a fee for Parcel Force dealing with customs on your behalf.

Whilst it does usually work out cheaper than the UK it might not end up being MUCH cheaper.

There are some people on ebay ofering NIB Savages for £338 including P&P.

one thing you could do is ask the US seller to label to package as a gift, which should mean no custom fees. Search the forum for other ways of avoiding fees!
