Hi was wondering if any other make of rc cars does body shells that will fit my TT01 as I was told other makes like HPI and losi etc have more 'crash forgiving' shells and are often a lot cheaper.

Such as this HPI bodyshell - 200mm, il ahve to check the length of mine. 7431.jpg

HPI

MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE 200MM BODY

Supplied clear

I dont get the 200mm measurement? [?] what bit is measured?

Thanks [;)]

These protoform shells say "Made to fit all popular 190mm sedans, it also meets all ROAR, BRCA and EFRA specs. "

Would they be ok? i take it you drill your own holes according to your chassis.

I quite like this one, I hope this fits alright.

All they say is fits 190mm [?] what if it dont fit the wheels or something. I think ill have a look in my LHS cause i think he has some there, see if they fit.

Yep. Width is the only consideration, some rally cars, but not Tamiyas, are 200mm wide. Any 190mm body will fit any Tamiya electric touring car. On most bodies the rear wheelarches are not marked so the body fits any wheelbase. Just use the spare plastic cut from the front wheel arch as a template for the rear. HPI bodies have marks for mounting the bodies in the same position as Tamiya ones, although I'm not sure if the newer ones do that.

Proline bodies are designed for racing, so although they do not have the detail of a Tamiya they produce a lot of downforce for extra grip.

190mm / 200mm is measured across the tops of the bonnet wheelwells.

Tamiya tourers usually measure about 182-186mm across the tops of the

front wheels (std wheel offsets), so you need a bodyshell of 190mm.

Tamiya's TG10 gas car also uses the same 190mm bodyshells...

but other's gas touring cars are wider and need the 200mm shells.

Thanks WIllychang. I'll prob go for a HPI or a protofrom, its hard to choose, ill prob end up smashin it up anyway, but thats beside the point...[8D]

due to our LHS ppl, wont get off there lazy AZZZ!!(can i say that??)

we dont have any HPI stuff at all, cant even order it, so we miss out on the real nice HPI bodies[:(][:(][:(]

Nup, I wouldn't put many options into a TL01/TT01 as it'll be a

waste of $$$ - much better off saving it towards your next car.

Ballbearings would be the max I'd go, if I had to run one.

I've done some re-engineering but... eg DIY ally shafts, improved MSC.

My usual ride is TA04 or TBe3.

TL01/FF02 chassis only good for displaying shells on the shelf imho. [|)][|)]

I plan ahead... a TL01/TT01 fully-kitted with all the fancy goodies

will have costed you *more* than a fancy limited edition Tamiya, yet

will be worth much less if you ever try and resell it later.

What's the logic in that?

though its up to parts avalabilty aswell....i know our LHS dont stock any TAMIYA parts from the odd skrew and ball bearings.....and a sport motor, lol....

but on the other hand they have loads of kyosho alpha parts, thats why there are quite a few off ppl with them cars...

i like the TL01 chassis, and i like the TA03R aswell, but i dont see the point off buying a EVO3SL when the racing is not good down here??....and id probably end up busting it anyway..

Its no secret, don't like the current HPI importers.

Didn't like the last ones before them too - beyond hopeless.

Why can't we just get someone that DOES THEIR JOB??! [:(!]

I keep watch on HPI's website too, and they're pretty tasty there.

Some HPI shells are available... sporadically. Not cheapest on the

market though & there's some very interesting ones available.

Metro usually has some, so does Mack's - usually ~A$50ish.

Hate their pre-cut stickers though. (Are ppl all that lazy today?)

btw don't blame the LHS. Bodyshells are bulky lightweight items

that are best shipped via sea in containers for economic reasons.

So all our bodyshells have to come from the official distributor/s.

Last couple of years the AUD has been pretty low against USD too,

only lately its improved quite a bit - HPI is Californian.

Which LHS do you go to, Dan?

Thought it was either Hoppers, Mack's or Metro.

Can't complain with Metro, they're as good as any. Have been up to

ACT, NSW & QLD shops and they're all pretty lame comparatively.

Racing at TFTR (Templestowe) is world class. Permanent tarmac

dedicated electric track, large & challenging layout.

Not even the Sydney-siders have anything like that!! [:P]

I thought all that red alloy was pretty poofy... but trust me,

it GROWs on ya! [;)][|)][:D]

Crashcourse in stock-handling @ LHS Danny.. [:D]

They just note down what you want (part # etc), add it to their

order list. They might order monthly/fortnightly/weekly.

If the part is in stock at Sydney then sure, it arrives in the next

shipment. If not, then its backordered until it turns up in the next

container from Japan. Might get a container in every 2-4 wks.

Add all that time up, you'll soon see why you could be waiting

either 2 days or 2 months depending on the stock situation & where.

well im from launceston, so there is only one good hobby store here, tigermodels...prety lame, but can have nearly any tamiya parts ordered....even some older bits...

but parts on stock is ****....its a hobby store with trains, model cars, boats, etc, not really a RC store, but more ppl are getting into it...

EVO 3 SL, yes the red bits look nice, but i would like to see them blue[;)]...me TA03R will do for a while,

Sorry Dan (TASSIE!), got ya mixed up as a Victorian. [:)]

Yeah, things are pretty dismal in Tas, sorry.

Why don't you rev things up a bit by organising something yourself?

Posted
