If it's a Lexan (transparent) body, you could get some precut masks from Parma from your local modelshop to help. (www.parmapse.com)

Or, get the internal flames decal from XXXMain, then paint the black over the top and job's done. The decals stick on the inside of the car, so look just like paintwork.

If it's a solid one, you could paint it and then get some vinyl flame stickers from Parma.

If you want to learn how to do it from scratch see Balak Racing site for examples (read the one about molten lava first and follow the same principles for doing flames).

You mean something like this:

flames.jpg

1 Mask out the flames using a masking kit or make your own by cutting out flames from masking film or several strips of overlapping masking tape. Make sure you mask out all of the front of the shell.

2 Spray the dark back part of the body. On this body I've sprayed a thin coat of Pactra candy blue backed with Alclad chrome, then Pactra black. When it is dry remove the masking film.

3 I then used an airbrush set to a narrow spray pattern to spray Pactra flourescent red around the edges of the flames. I then set the airbrush to a wider spray pattern and spray Pactra fluorescent yellow over the red. Everything is then backed with white to brighten up the colours, and in my case extended to the front of the body.

It is best to practice on a piece of scrap clear plastic first, such as empty drinks bottles. They're cheaper than your bodyshell.

That's nice terry.sc [8D]

I like the way you've done the flames at the back too, a bit different to all the other flame jobs I've seen with the flames at the front.

Hey, cool...! That looks just like Biggus's(?) Mercedes Group C car at Snet last year, except his were real flames...!

Seriously though, that's a sweet job.

I always paint the front in white - easier to see on the track. The front is a solid colour so that if the paint on the shell comes off after racing it's easier to touch it up with a quick spray of white.

nice body.. would one like that fit my tt-01?

The body is 1/12thscale, too small for a TT-01. Vixen bodies make one that would fit

If you are happy to fit a 200mm wide body, Vixen make these:

Only thing to watch is that the body is not too low at the front to fit over the shocks. CML www.cmldistribution.co.uk are the distributors so any UK model shop should be able to order one for you.
