I don't know if this annoys anyone else as much as it does me, but what part of "Keep me signed in on this computer unless I sign out" does ebay not actually understand???

My guess is that even their "permanently signed in" cookie has a relatively short lifetime, probably for security reasons. Also they regularly ask you to sign in again to confirm you are the user, again for security reasons.

Do clean up (delete) your cookies or have program that does it (some internet "security" and "privacy" progs do)? I never had such problem on any computer I use, only when I clean up my cookies.

I found it occured after I switched Auto Complete on (tools/options/content/)

I switched it off a couple of weeks ago, and it's been fine since

It seems a bit random, sometimes you put it in once and it doesn't ask for it again, on other occasions virtually every action asks for the password... I can't see a good reason for it, so am putting it down to sloppy programming on eBay's part.

I think it could be because ebay use many different servers to dish up your page via a web server farm, and the cookie stays relevant if you hit the same server as before, but not if you happen to hit another one. That could explain the randomness of it (it's a known issue when you move to server clusters and can be awkward to program around).
