In what direction do you see the company evolving in the next, say, 5 years?

Will they shift back to off-road? Will they participate more in the nitro market? Will they stop making R/C and just produce static kits?!

Glad you could opine.[:)]

Sadly, if the current stock in hobby and toy shops is anything to go by, Tamiya's line-up will consist entirely of electric and nitro touring car/monster truck kits and QDs.

Where is that Neo-Shot?

I think as long as Subaru keep producing Imprezzas, tamiya will still have a job to do. 5 years from now they will still be doing the same thing.

I think tamiya will still have a wide range of electric and nitro cars from beginners stuff right up to pro racers. The TT-01 will still be the basic car and will form the basis of a 4WD buggy. Due to the sucess of the 414 and 415 I certainly see a top end electric although I would hope the price is a bit more reasonable. High levels of detail will still be important with a continuing range of tanks and semi trucks. I also think we will see a range of 1/18th vehicles going by what was said during the release of the TLT.

Does anyone expect something innovative?

Kyosho has the Mini-Z series, Losi has theier little racing truck and Traxas has prety much the mega monstruck market in their bag.

What bout Tamiya? They seemed more worried in copying what other are doing rather than releasing something new.

i would like to see a new clod buster from tamiya but i think the way they are going all tamiya are gona release are nitro buggys with big wheels and truck bodys, like the TNX[V]

if tamiya are gona be making more nitro stuff, why dont they release a live axel nitro monster truck! like a nitro version of the clod, juggy or txt-1[:P]

Does anybody know what market share Tamiya currently hold and what turnover they achieve compared to the same time 10 and 20 years ago? Seems to me that most of my LHS don't stock Tamiya any more, in fact my local one calls me 'Tamiya man' as I'm the only person who buys any quantity of Tamiya parts. He is now stocking other makes mostly nitro stuff, planes and helis.

Tamiya doesn't sell much here anymore as far as i can tell. It's all Associated, Losi or Traxxas [V]. That means parts are hard to come by here and the few kits they sell, are overpriced.

Seems a shame really, I remember as a kid going into the store and seeing a wall of Tamiya boxes both RC and 1/35th stuff. Tamiya boxes always seemed so high quality both in construction and box art. I think they still are actually. I don't think the competition can match the superb box art that Tamiya produce - even as an adult those images still make something stir inside and if I look at them too long I get my wallet out......[:P]....maybe it is good that they don't stock too much any more!!! The thing is that Tamiya has too many cars for a hobby shop to stock parts for. and really if you bought a TL-01 and you wear out the tires and need a new body, it's almost cheaper to buy another car kit.
