If and only if you are knowing what your doing you could use a tunneling program that basicly tunnels through http(s) to do the things you want to do. Ofcourse in most companies is this a highly illegal way of getting around the outbound firewall :-). Look for exaple at http://www.download.com/HTTPort/3000-2155_4-10122346.html

BUt on the other hand: If you don't understand what I'm saying here stay away from these software and go for sniper software that bids for you when you are at work!

Keep in mind that your work computer is owned by them so they can set any guidlines they want. My work won't let me access TC photos because the porn nanny pops up for some reason.

Oh boy.. Another victim.. I've been down that road and I had the same story to tell.

Do like T.C.-Tamiya said, "QUIT YOUR JOB"..... I quit mine.

Just make E-Bay your full time job like I did. ( old user gixerjay97 for and new work user auction-ittodaymi14 ) Best decision I ever made and I couldn't be any happier. Being on the Bay all day and finding those great Buy It Now new listings are priceless.

If worst comes to worst get a Laptop with a wireless feature to take to work with you. If your company is wireless, but is IP locked here is a great tool to search for and for piggybacking a signal in your area. http://www.netstumbler.com/

Cheers guys.

I hear what your saying Max, but too much at stake.. I'm a wimp like that ;)

Quit my job? Come on that was stupid advice.

Interested in the web based tranlators though... Any in particular Chris?

Thanks

I know quiting your job is out of the question. Don't take it serious. Joking and misleading info is industry standard on TC.

Keep the laptop with wireless in mind, and also using the NetStumbler is a great program. That way the risk factor is a lot lower instead of using "COMPANY" PC's with Tunneling software.

Does it prevent all pages at ebay? Ie can you jump to pages directly, or do a search or is basically everything that begins with www.ebay?

Seen several companies lock down regional services like hotmail.com and ebay.com but leave open their .co.uk counterparts (which allow you to search all ebays) you could try some of them.

Or another option are tools like these

http://www.mazepath.com/eSearch.htm

and

http://www.bayprospector.com

Applications like these can work via a different method to get at the ebay data and display it. (can't offer any guarentees I'm afraid) But I think even these at the end of the day throw you at ebay to actually place a bid worth a try though.
