I'm trying to pay someone with PayPal after winning an R/C auction and instead of going through the normal process it wont let me pay with my card anymore, but is trying to get me to pay through my PayPal funds account. Has anyone else noticed this change???

Ok, they have decided to make my long held verified account unverified. There is gonna be badword to pay!!!!!![:(!][:(!][:(!]

Anyone else had this happen to them??[?]

My account (here in the 'States) went unverified about a year ago. Never found out what really happened, but PayPal customer service told me it was an occaisonal glitch that would 'fix itself.' (Eventually it did)

Has the seller blocked credit and debit type payments?

Yea, it sound like the seller does not take credit type payments. Happend to me for the first time the other day. Wy will they not do that I wonder? If I don't pay my credit card account, thats my problem right???

Only paypal "Premium" a/cs can receive CC payments.

Premium a/c holders get charged a % of EVERY payment they receive,

regardless of whether payer sends from a CC or cleared funds.

Non-Premium ("Personal"?) a/c holders don't get charged any % fee

and they can receive $$ from pp cleared funds only.

Another case that unfortunately holds for me [:(] is that for very few sellers like Jason few credit cards like mine don't work, he states it in his auctions though.

Maybe has to do with a change in the PP verification policy or procedure? Have you tried re-verifying it? It seems to be easier now then in the past, at least for me.

Yes, I had to go through this joke myself recently. It said it was going to phone me to verify I lived where I said I did - I wasn't there at the time, so it asked for a different phone number - I keyed in the one I was sitting by, it rang, I answered it and suddenly not only am I verified but both my home and business addresses are "confirmed".

Total BS security they operate really... I wouldn't place any trust on "confirmed" or "verified" addresses after this little experience!

Just had an email from them apologizing for my account becoming unverified...says its a software problem that will be sorted out soon. I presume there must be a fair few in the same boat??!!

It's probably because of the fraud risk a credit card poses, some sellers won't take them for fear of credit card charge backs, in which case they would lose the payment.

AND the 'phone calls' hadn't started until recently- before that, they only took your word for it! Good to see some effort towards security, but come on!
