backing paint on lexan

hi there again,

Im painting a body with pactra grape pearl spray and I wondered what would be best to back it with, because it's not really a plain colour nor is it metallic either, so I cant decide on backing in white or silver,

any thoughts...

Personally I would back pearl with a metallic tone, as their effects are similar.

I would use Indy Silver to back a pearl paint, but white will also give a nice effect. Best to experiment on a plastic bottle first, that's what I did with the candy paints, blow some pearl onto the bottle, then do half white and half Indy and see which looks nicest.

If it's anything like the candy paint with Indy Silver backing, the depth of finish looks fantastic, I was well pleased with it, far better than anything ready mixed could manage..

I have seen a few shells recently backed with Black paint, it really looked good, made the colours nice and strong looking

I used a can of Pactra grape many years ago, its quite a dark colour and very opaque for a pearl too. Backed it with PS12 Silver and it turned out quite dark, darker than 'Ribena'.

Depends what you're looking for, a lighter backing colour (white, or bright/light silver) might do a better job.

I've just backed it with some Pactra Indy Silver, (I had some lying around).

So far it looks fantastic, I will see properly when I pull the overspray film off tho.

That looks really nice, and I'm sure it looks better in the flesh than the picture shows. The depth of the 2 part finishes is unbeatable.

I am planning to make a new TB02-Skyline.

I was planning to paint it a gun metal metalic, but can't seem to find any [V] So if I paint it Gun Mental, then back it with silver will it go metalic like yours??? It is really nice...

This is the kinda colour im looking for:

Nice huh? gonna do the viper stripes over bonnet and roof. (Inspired more by Elanor in gone in 60 seconds than 2Fast2Furious...

im really pleased with the 2 shells that ive now backed in silver it really gives the paint depth and bulk.

I was just wondering how I could get that colour? I may try with some of the good advice here that made yours look so good, but I would like it to be a dark silver/grey metalic....
