far as i know chris they are for mounting the steering rods onto the uprights/ knuckles. the rods come from the servo and snap onbto the ball connectors that are screwed into the uprights. have a look in ur maunal if you've got it, will show you there. as for aluminium ones- well i guess they take bit weight off but i don't think they are that great compared to standard ones. hope this is a help

Those balls are also used for mounting of dampers and the upper suspension links on my TA-03 and TL-01. (the TL has adjustable upper arms.)

So the answer to your question would be yes.

Thanks guys for the info. I ordered a set of standard ones as for a set of aluminium they were £8.50 [:0] can't see how aluminium would make much difference anyway. Going to use them to mount my dampers to keep them held on better than the screws.

The overall weight savings of the aluminum balls Vs. the brass ones is small. However, if you are on a campaign to make your car as light as possible and used with other weight saving parts it could matter. Otherwise go with the brass ones. They are stronger and more wear resistant. (not to mention less expensive!) [;)]
