You can get the buyer to A: send you pics of the damage or B: send the kit back and then refund the money.

If i get a parcel in the post that looks damaged i always take a photo first that way i have proof if it is damaged.

SOOOO many claims during the holiday just funny the buyer could be scamming also theres been too many storys of how a buyer has been saying to seller: I didnt get it, its broke, etc.. even the seller puts confirmation on it they buyer still saids he/she didnt get it during the holidays just messed up.

If the item is obviousley the same as your listing ,you wont have any problem.. hard luck story with the "damaged" parcels, i would have thought that you would have been entitled to having the goods sent back to you? either before or certainly after paypal had investigated the claim by the buyer.....There is a moral here somewhere, maybe why i now insist on a signed for/insured postage is used on anything i sell on ebay....Only winners now are the Post Office!

cheers.

well supose they have the same item wich is used already and i sold them a brand new one, there is just noway to really prove to paypal wrong doing on me,but yet they side with the buyer, this is insane what going on here, paypal has not gotten any money yet from me since i took everything out of my paypal acct, but the question again is can they take from my banks checking acct without my authorzing it,its crazy i gotta hide my money when i did nothing wrong really

and another thing if the item is damaged or not like described and the buyer gets a refund from paypal, who gets the product paypal the buyer??who is taking my kits,do i get them back?im just letting ppl know ive never had problems before but i am having lots now,i will never use paypal again with this **** going on,sellers are really being targeted for scams and paypal just sides with buyers to make it easy it seems, example i sell a new blackfoot to a buyer who already had a well used blackfoot, says i sold him the used one, files a claim and wins, does anyone here think this is fair?

Clodbusters, I agree with you, Its just Wrong.

Id be writing to Paypal (and eBay if this is how they were purchased), and state that IF the items are damaged, then you will, at your expence, pay for the return of the items, and refund the buyers money, BUT only if the kits can be returned in the same condition as which they were bought. This should sound reasonable to Paypal, and maybe paypal will allow you to sort things out this way. I would also point out to Paypal, that if it was the buyers decision NOT to insure, then how should you be held accountable for something that postage insurance should normally cover (damage in transit). I mean its not like they didnt get them, and if theyre used, they can't have been to damaged.

Otherwise, Id close the bank accounts and credit card at your bank, so that paypal cant take your money and walk away. They cant take your money if the bank account doesnt exist.

I think the moral to this story is to always insist on Insured postage, and include that as a condition in your listing.

Or simply add it in to your postage amount anyway when you list, like most sellers add in the ebay fees. Making insurance "optional" is not a good idea - any smart buyer knows that paypal (in the uS) or regulations (in Europe) mean it's the sellers problem if something goes missing, not the buyer...

I had something similar happen to me with a buyer from Germany. He claimed to never had receive the truck so paypal refunded him. What I thought was kind of shady was that the buyer never e-mailed me to let me know what was going on I only got a mess. from paypal. And the unfortunate thing (for me) is I sent the item through usps and with international shipping they do not provide a tracking #. And being that the customer did not want ins. I never got any. So in the future I will NOT sell anything uninsured or with out tracking period. Now I suppose it is possible that the truck did indeed get lost but I have never ever lost anything in the mail whether I bought or sold it. I did send an item to the uK and it took several weeks to get there but fortunately it did indeed get there and the buyer was patient. So even if the truck does get to Germany he probably just figures he already got his money back so I may as well be hush hush and have the truck too... Although I do believe in karma so what goes around will surely come back his way if he did scam me. In short I suppose live and learn... and learn from your mistakes!

I seriously doubt that paypal or anyone else can take money from your bank account without a signed mandate. ie. direct debit or standing order.

You need to read the paypal terms and conditions.

There is never any money in my paypal account, it all comes straight from my bank account. If you have given them a backup account or verified, this is part of their deal, they can dip in, when they like, and take what they feel is right in the circumstances.

What really annoys me is that if you register a credit card with them, you can only do this as a second funding option, not a primary. which makes it much harder to put recourse on the buyer, or paypal.

(I have found credit card companies will, in the case of a dispute, credit you the money back, and then investigate for you. it's probably this reason that Paypal have set it up this way.)

Paypal will only take money from your paypal account. so keep it empty! if your balance is zero they will put you in the negitve but they can't take it from your bank account. paypal is easy to deal with JUST COVER YOUR BUTT AND DON'T LEAVE ANY MONEY SITTING IN YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT!!!!!!!!!! and allways ship with insurance and online traking even if it costs you more than you charged for shipping it will payoff in the long run. unless your are a scammer and not shipping what you listed,or lie in your description. You are going to be fine!

EXACTLY!! I sell and ship TONS of stuff on the Bay and its not worth try to save a few cents.

You MUST insure and confirm delivery on everything!!! There are just too many scams and un-honest people out there waiting to take advantage of a free transaction. The risk of shipping without insurance and confirmation to save a few cents is not worth it.

You'd be amazed how many people e-mail me saying something wasn't delivered or they want a refund for a damaged item. But, then when I send them a tracking number to confirm delivery or a phone number to call to file a damage claim you never hear from them again after that.[;)]

Just a side note. More than once, I have received an insured package that was just left at my door by the postman. Even if he scans it, it was never signed for. In these cases, I COULD have claimed that I never received them. In a case like this, I think Paypal will side with the buyer because there was no proof of delivery. If you accept Paypal payments, make sure you read the requirements for the seller's protection plan. Insurance does not mean tracking or proof of delivery. Insurance only is valid if there is a claim (lost or damaged). Happy Holidays! Jim

If you are in the u.S.A. ...Take advantage of the uSPS web site and print your own Priority Mail shipping labels. Great looking, easy to do and it includes delivery confirmation for FREE. Clodbuster...your post office, or at least the clerk that took care of you is vacuous(I don't know if I can use the word sucks). We all understand how busy it is right now but you could have had the clerk add DC because you were not done with the transactions yet.

And while we are on the subject of shipping, watch out if you ship anything via uSPS in the new Flat Rate boxes. Half the time they miss the Flat Rate marking on the box and charge you standard Priority rates. This adds up if you ship a lot.

These new Flat Rate boxes are a fantastic deal if you take advantage of them. As it says on the boxes " One price regardless of weight in the u.S.". As far as I am concerned, they are taking a real beating by offering this. They might think this as well now since I do not see it as an option very much when you look up a shipping cost online. The "good deal" is like this. Example: Priority Mail for a 50 pound package of ...let's say lead weights from FL ZIP 32174 TO CA ZIP 94520 is $87.95. Same 50 pounds of lead weights in a Flat Rate box is $7.70! Yes it is true. Happy holidays! Jim

P.S. Can anybody tell me why I can't get a capitol u to show up on this site? uSA, uPS, uSPS?

Hi,

what me really annoys me here is that since paypal offers these "insurance" and these scam hole you must use them.So they make money in every way.Either they get the small fees from the buyer or they take your seller-money for the insurance when the buyer say "item not received or broken etc".

Did the buyer get the whole 500USD?I dont wonder if the difference to the item-price goes to paypal!

All my past sells i insuranced with a post insurance and everything wents fine.Slowly i hate these paypal...
