just thought this could get interesting[|)]

any one had any bad experiences letting other people drive your rc's[?]

just wondering cos i let my liitle bro have a play with my monster beetle earlier, he drove it full pelt over my foot, flipping it onto its roof[:D] it was well funny but scratched up the paint work[:(]

i got my midnight pumpkin from a friend, he gave it to me, in pieces[8)] i had never seen a pumpkin before but i worked out where things went and fixed it up. things like the servoes, steering and suspenion were hanging off, snapped or missing, but it had a nice body[:)]

when i told him i had fixed it he came round to give it a drive, he hadnt drove it for about 6 years, he went full speed in reverse and cliped a front wheel on the corner of the shed, snapping the steering[:(]

still i bet you guys have had worse experiences when you let others take the wheel!

The first time I used my TA04 (my first RC car) my friend had a go and tried to drive it through the wheels of his car in the car park.[?] Needless to say it didn't make it out the other side [:(!] and the next hour was spent finding the missing parts to my steering arms. I only let people use the TL01 now, its quite indestructable in comparison.

out in the garden on day with trucks, my daughter got her QD MB stuck in the trees, can you get my truck dad?

put my remote down (didn't switchit off cos esc's do funny things without a signal) walked over to rescue her QD, stopped briefly to see my MB at full speed ram into a concrete fence post. [:(!][V][:0][B)]She was horrified, the MB was ok just a small crack in the front apron, bumper OK.[8D]

I don't leave the remote anywhere now, i couldn't repremand her cos she's seen how i drive it !!!!!!![8)][:I]

Tank warfare has been one of our many rc events in town. I let my buddy drive my sherman. I told him to treat it like a static model that is RC. 1st thing he does is tranverse while over a pile of rocks. I lost a few bits of the suspension and threw the track as well. Within seconds he told me "a tank should be able to do that".

About a week he asked me if I want to drive his racing clod. I said yes and launched it off a 4 foot ledge. Boy did that thing crash. My buddy yelled "why did you do that" and I said "a monster truck should be able to do that." [:I]

Nobody drives my cars unless they own one of equal and greater value.

Last summer I went for a blast round a boat yard with my SS runner, my dad came along to video it.

I loaded up a fresh battery gave him the hand set and said 'fancy a blast?' He's got a good idea of the value of the car and with eyes like saucers did 3 small circles about as slow as it would go.

I folded with laughter and had to shout encouragement 'go on give it some!' It then hobbled accross the yard about 10 feet.

'FLAT OUT!!!' I screamed, the wheels spun it did 1 360 a donut and stoped.

He handed back the handset and said 'COOL' ..........[xx(]

He can drive my cars anytime [:D]

On an early outing with my FF01, i told my brother to take it slow, especially when turning, and to keep it AWAY from the curb at all costs.

Needless to say he put it full pelt into a six inch curb. The poor thing lept about 10 inches at the back and it cracked from the bonnet down to the skirt.[:(] His excuses:

"It would have cracked anyway"

"You weakened it"

Then the first time I ever ran my Mini he did the same thing (except this time without the shell!) Needless to say the two front wheels were crushed beyond repair, (I.e. wonky as badword) so that cost me for a new set!

I learnt my lesson

Other people and my stuff dont Mix!!!

(He now has a QD for playing cops and robbers - DONT YOU DARE DENT MY CAR!!!!)

Snollan, My wife and I are rolling on the floor after reading your story about the tank and the clod! I love your advice no one drives unless they own one of equal or greater value, or can afford to pay to have the **** thing fixed after they crash it!

I've been in akward situations where other fellow enthusiasts want to 'swap' cars at the track to see how they drive. The nice thing is that if we break someone elses car, we take care of the cost of the parts. To avoid the situation all together, I don't ask to drive anyone elses car and I do so only if invited. This way I hope they reciprocate.

With my off road cars, I try to give 'test drives' in very open areas. Most of my family never ask to drive as they know I'm a little fanatic about my creations.

A dear friend of mine comes to visit on New Years. I, of course, present him my shiny ner Dynastorm and offer to let him give it a run in the street. Two minutes and one dent in the pavement later, the Dyna is on its back gasping and twiching for air with fortunately just a few scrtaches on the wing and shock towers.

Turns out this same bloke had destroyed another friend´s Blackfoot about ten years ago when he jumped (jumped!) and came down on the truck that was about to hit him in the ankle, making the poor owner cry and sob like a girl who just found out she wont go to the prom.

Well, at least the Dyna wasnt obliterated!

My brother has a horrid habit of screwing up behind the wheels of other people's rc cars. When we were young he got my fox "bit up" becasue he was teasing our family rotweiller with it.

A few years back he flew some poor mans r/c plane out of range and it just flew off into the sunset.

Hes snapped 2 ballends and a steering link (heavey duty one) off various clods and this past weekend he managed to break the front shock tower on my mini-t within a minute of him getting the contols.

Its like watching homer simpson deal with rc.

I should really leave this story for Mr_Pushrod [:(!]. A few months ago went to meet up with Volksrod to trade and run some cars, Alan (Mr P) joined us. Whilst sorting a few things I let him loose with my XC Isuzu Mu, I only had my back turned for a few minutes when i heard that familiar sound of hard body scraping accross tarmac [:(][:(][:(][:(] I didnt need to turn round, that sound is unmistakeable. LOL I know it needed a repaint but up until that point it didnt need much in the way of smoothing.

Once again thanks Alan [:D][:P]

Glad you liked the story. Is it just me or do we all hang out with crappy friends that like to break stuff? J/k keep the post rolling.

My first car in fifteen years was a boomerang I found on ebay, I restored it to as near mint as I could get it and let my brother in law try it out on one of it's first runs. with a totally new body and decals on it, It took him about 2 mins to have it on the roof and the antenna bent to ****, despite my plea's not to roll the car it was pretty much the first thing he had to do. Even my wife drives my cars better than he does!

almoste forgot!

mate of mine just had to drive the aeromax. warned him "its not a race car!" just stay on the tarmac...

not even finished speaking he tried to drive it up the curbs [:(!]

the fresh painted rc boat what was functioning as cargo ofcourse felt off the trailer on inpact snapping 1 screwblade off..

The scratch on the paintwork is still there [B)]

At the start of last year I had finished my first midnight pumpkin, my Dad was over shortly after to drop something off and when he turned up I was outside test driving it. Anyway he asked for a go as it was a car he had when we me and my brother got our cars as kids.

So, ok I thought, he knows how easy these things roll so he will be careful.....well, I was right, he didnt roll it. No. What he did to however was drive it full pelt into the front of one of my neighbours cars. Which car? A brand new Jaguar S type! In silver! That then had a black scatch at the front.

Surfice to say it was quite a while after that, that I went out to test any more cars and I dont think the pumpkin has ever been back out there.

And to think when we were young Dad was always the one telling us to mind cars with them. Tut, I dont know.

When you let someone operate your RC, be prepare and accept any damages or let them run it in an open field with no curb, water, wall, ramp to jump etc.....

Human beings are fun, is OK if you break your own RC but someone else break it is a different story....At lease the reaction will be different

Yes, lessons to be learnt here.. What is it with people driving a car and driving flat out? The same happened with my Optima Turbo. I said "go slowly until you work out what is what" So he drives straight and flat out into a curb head on... Never again will I let anyone drive my cars...

having bought a baja king last year, my first r/c purchase for over 10 years I was in a supermarket car park with my brother thrashing it around.

Someone driving out of the car park after finishing some shopping decided to stop and watch the action. Trying to get my brother involved - who's not at all interested in these things, but was keeping me company - I handed him the transmitter and told him to give it a spin. A couple in minutes later as his confidence grew he started showing off driving nearer and nearer to the watching car. Heading straight for it the car suddenly lost power (not sure of the battery died or the if the transmitted as now out of range) and ground to a halt just next to the stopped car. The guy opened the car door picked up my car and sped off, straight onto a main road with no chance of us catching him on foot [B)].

I was not happy, but looking back on it now, it was pretty funny. My bro doesn't drive the cars any more.

ok- so i brought my first car from my dads mate bout a week before xmas 2003, but didn't get chance to have a go on it before christmas day. So whilst all the family were slobbed out on the sofa and floor after a huge xmas dinner me and my bro decided to take my car out for the first time. Now this car was practically brand new, the uprights were weakened though by an unfortuate class with th fire place apparently. so i'm having a go, all good so i give it to my brother who does a few runs in the car park before slamming the car head on into a raised drain. what a christmas present! the uprights shattered and the left wheel just limped about so time to go home again. lol ah well he broght a TL-01 a week later so just planning my revenge lol

I think I have a selfish, simple approach to the other driver bit. I have cars that I can safely in my conscience let other people drive and I have cars that no way anyone but the Tamiya Champion is going to drive. I don't have any problems telling people how it is with my cars and I don't let their whining and temper tantrums get the better of me.[:(] I think a runner is just that, a runner. If it has scratches and stuff on the bottom it is seasoned and I would like to think I will have the extra parts laying about to repair just about any kind of damage. In some cases, I have enough parts to build three cars, but only decide to build one runner and have the other parts around for spares. I do the same when it comes to the body shells. Thankfully aquiring extra parts for the last 14 years has paid off and I have some serious dogs for bodies. I know that I don't drive that well and I just want to have fun. If someone else is going to drive, expect to go home with a broken car or something that needs attention before driving it again. [8)]I expect that I would break something too and then I am not mad at that person for being the one behind the wheel when it crashed. I can be forgiving when I let people drive the cars I don't mind abusing. I just want to have fun and if letting someone drive your car makes them want a car and go buy one, well then that is good for the hobby and good for you to race against them when they drive with you.
