Well, I am always well *******ed and furious when people want to drive my cars so badly and don't listen to my instructions - they never do it seems.

My first car, the Fighter Buggy: My brother just built it, dad put on the decals. My bro said: "You don't know what to do, let me drive". I didn't agree and I was asking the remote back, so my bro drives up the street, 5 meters further he hit someones legs... Thanks bro. [;)]

My new built Ferrari 360 TA-04. Went with my dad on the parking lot roof. I was haing a good run from it, it went pretty well. My dad pulling on the transmitter as he also wanted a run. Ok so I handed it to him. I also quoted the famous word "Stay away from the kerbs". So my dad turned, and nearly into a kerb. Managed to stop right in front of it. I said: "Don't move, you can't make that turn, I will get the car and put it back on the road." As I walk to the car. He DID try to make the turn, and scraped the body! You know what he said?

"Well, it DID make the turn." As I told I get very angry when that sh*t happens. I have made sure he won't ever even WANT to drive my cars again. He knows the consequences. [:(!]

Now you wonder what happened to my dad? Don't worry, he is still alive! But It does make me wonder - why do most people that you consider as sane turn into complete morons when you let them drive your RC? NOBODY ever gets to drive any of my cars again, no matter how long people ask.

I think what they should invent, that I hold a second transmitter and flick a switch so I will get back in control when they are about to do something stupid. The same concept is used in aircraft RC... Just wondering - would I be able to make something like that with 2 old 2ch transmitters I have laying around...?

What's next - letting other people BUILD your cars? I got some nice memories on that! [8)]

Oh dear oh dear... lots of funny stories here [:o)] I am luckier, i have NO family [:D] NO Mates who are remotely interested in RC [:D] so NO-ONE else will get to drive my cars EVER!!! [:P] Mind you i can do enough damage by myself anyway [:(][:(]

On Boxing day a couple of years back I had just got my Kyosho Honda NSR built painted and ready to run. I got the wife to paint the thing (sharing is nice) and she wanted to 'ave a go. So I lets her.

She gets this little R/C bike to go straight through a puddle of water and into a concrete wall. There were splash marks all over the wall with the poor little guy barely hanging onto the bike. What does she say: "looks like blood!".[xx(]

Another time I let my my sister in law have a go with my TB01 Subaru. She manages to hit (repeatedly) the only tree in this park for miles. [8)]

Another time I let the wife drive my TA04 Modena. Now the Modena can go pretty straight right out of the box with very little tweaking. She can't even drive the thing in a straight line. I've started wondering how she drives the 1:1 car [?]

I found the hard way about getting the kids involved. My kids get to steer while I control the throttle. This works good for kids but can be difficult to suggest for adults wanting to drive. So my brother in law drove the mini away just fine, but heading back (diff story, of course). He got to close to the curb, panicked and turned it right into it a full speed. Cracked the body, even the kids didn't do that much damage when I let them have a go.

Hehe, this is a funny topic [:D]

I have been quite lucky with this kind of things actually. It only went wrong once...I was driving my hopped-up TA04 in the street and I let my brother have a go (he's 21 so I thought I could trust him), he managed to go straight to the curb at full speed and then he hit it..of course. The TA04 didn't move, it was just a "bang" and the thing stood still...my skyline shell since then has 5 splits more [V] The chassis wasn't damaged though...he hit the thing with the front of the car so the foam bumper saved me [;)]

hi

the story goes back to when i was a teenager and had just had a brand new brat(but 540 power).on the local golf course and a friend says give us a go(thinking there was not a lot he could hit) i said yes.he drives over a hill and into a draining ditch 3 feet deep in water.

not very inpressed to say the least.

i then some time later sold him the brat.he got a little radio glitch.

the car shot into the road and got flattend by a 40tone truck.i laughed like a little boy for hours and it still makes me smile now.

my friend drove my second m-03 mini just after it was built.

it was night time and he drove it flat out over a speed hump and the screws on the bottom of the steering sparked as it went over, but apart from a crack at the front it survived quite well... lol...

This is the kind of hobby that can become an obsession after 30 seconds of exposure to it, so by all means let anyone that want to try it, TRY IT! Then you can sell them things.

However, it is an accepted postulate that no matter what you tell them to do, they will point the car at the nearest item with a durometer reading > 200, and go full steam into it.

Corollary: upon doing this, they will just shrug and hand you the controller like that was an act of God, while you go pick up the pieces. "Well... sorry 'bout that."

I have a Twin Detonator expressly for this purpose.

I could contribute a story too...

I had an electric trainer airplane that had been built from a kit. We gave my grandfather, who flew P-38 Lightnings in World War II, a turn at the controls. He came in for a landing and put it in a tree, shearing off the wing. It then made a nose-first line for the dirt and shattered the front cowl, driving the motor somewhere into the fuselage.

His response: "Huh."

I got one.....

I was about 6 or 7 i guess and my Dad got me a Marui Golden Eagle for my birthday. After waiting ages for him to finnish it for me it's time for a testdrive. Fully charged battery pack, low battery in the transmitter, me telling him to wait till the batteries are fully charged.

He picks up the chassis (thankfully he didn't put the body on) turns on the transmitter then the car........me watching.......gives it full throttle.....the thing wheelies away.........in a straight line and slams into a wall 80 metres away.

By this point i'm almost crying, my Dad's eyes almost popping out of his head. We both start running towarts the car to see the damage......Well, my Golden Eagle never had a front bumper.

Lately he got him self an Mini M03, and i gave hime a new chassis for it for his birthday, ow what fun it is to see him drive and smash his car. He only wants to drive in wide open spaces....i wonder why[;)].

These stories are very funny :)

Years ago I had a trainer plane, flew it quite well I did.

Well as the instructor took over to land it, he promptly put it into a log on the ground... at least he fixed it for me.

I let a mate drive my one of my cars - my HPI Mini RS4 Pro - a few months ago in a huge old disused netball court ( well about 5-6 of them in a row anyway ) so plenty of room not to hit anything.

He did well for his first ever time of driving a car, didnt hit a thing... except my TL01 Focus, and the focus flipped a couple of times from that, but as its a runner, i wasnt fussed at all.

Only downside was the HPI Mini Pro the front diff part of it broke and it wasnt through anything he did either, and the belt slipped so it turned into a 2wd car, was still fun to drive that way :D

Have only just gotten around to fixing the diff again a few months later.

So for the only person I let drive my cars I havent had that bad a time at all

My first experience with ruining cars by non expeienced drivers is when I drove my neighbours Frog Full Speed into the curves. I totaly cracked his chassis just behind the front suspension!! At that moment I told myself when I got a car, no one but myself was allowed to drive it.

Now 20 years later, I got my girlfriend so far that she wanted a go with my TL01 (without hop ups). After 2 minutes she managed to wedge the car between my real car's front tire and ground. The body was cracked and the shock was stuck. She then never wanted to drive again untill last week. I have my TL01 hopped up with 23T motor and lots of other stuff. She wanted a go with it and I agreed. I was surprised that she managed so well with the car. Maybe she is practicing when I'm not at home!? :)

I dont really have an let others drive you're car experience, but an drive with other car experrience. Today i drove my old volvo ff01 with an sporttunde in it. Thye body was old and britle, but here were some others driving RTR tt01 so i thought lets have a little race after a little drage it was clear my car was faster[8D]. But then i drove there and one hit me (maybe on purpose)but as its an old body anyway i didn't really botherd. But after my battery was flat i notticed that they were hitting each other on purpose trying to ruin there car. I know bashing could be fun with an old car. But if you have one rc car and you try to crash and ruin it i do not really understand that. I mean they had ruined new body's after one run. It made me ssmile though sying tt01 getting broke. Normally you have to buy new tyres after some runs and later a body, while they need new body's. Oh and one thing i'm not going to race anymore with them in there distruction derby:P

I always let other people drive my cars. And I am talking about expensive cars too like my $2000 FG Comp Evo (1/5 scale car). Its a nice way to promote this hobby to new people.

The only eception however is my vintage collection. I don't let anyone drive my vintage cars because if they break something, it might be impossoble to find a replacement no matter how much money I am willing to spend.

nobody drives my cars. they treat dem like toy rc's - slow, indestructable. my transmitter never leaves my hands. not to mention as i'm 13, my friends are too!

I let a the son of a friend of ours drive my Super Hornet once and, I kid you not, he drove it about 5 feet up a large tree trunk at full speed before it stopped and crashed back down. unbelievably, no damage was done. Never again though.
