I gotta admit I've always fancied owning one of those Kyosho 1:20 scale Mini-Offroaders that they produced before the Mini-Z's

there are a few members of the club that have thses, the did mini 2WD versions of the Optima and Ultima. Im not really a fan of anything less than 1:12 scale but Id soon find a home for one of those 1:20 scale beauties.

this is the first time ive seen an Off-road Mini-Z though, I didnt know they did them...or are they something new? shame they only have Paris-Dakar style trucks, I imagine the chassis design is too bulky to allow a buggy version?

I really like these 1:20 Buggys. Due to a permanent lack of spare time in combination with our bad weather here in Germany, you can have a really good time with these tiny racers at home.

My Baja Bug is the Optima and it is really tricky. In contrast to the Mini Z's, this buggy is a complete scale down of the 1:10 technology, known from that time.

But beware your wife when you are roaring through the flowerpots at home.

"mini" Optima Bajabug was the 2nd vehicle I ever bought for the collection, same day as the 1st on 9-9-99. Previous owner evidently had too much cartooning time on his hands (said his friend did it though).

Yes, its a new release for which I'm told production has just started.

They are 2WD only; all new MiniZ chassis with the 4 shocks and larger wheels.

Most of the bodyshells are race trucks, but there seems to be a plain silver Toyota Landcruiser too if you don't like sponsor logos. I'm sure Kyosho will bring out heaps more other 4X4/SUV shells soon.

Pix from the HLJ site.

Pity they're not 4x4, but I guess 'offroad' is a relative term. They're obviously not going very far offroad, ground clearence is only 10mm. Still, they're pretty cool.

I've got some GP20BB thingy in the motor cage, its twin-bearing'd and meant for Kyosho's bikes I think. Same size etc as the round "big block" motors now available for the Micro.
