These look like a good deal - £180 for a nice looking buggy with lit chassis, ESC, motor and all radio gear. Is the buggy supposed to be any good though - i.e. does it match up to the Losi XXX series?

I don't know much about the 'Zaboon', but I can tell you it is absolutely no match for a Losi!!!

Sorry[B)]

I guess it would compare with something like a 'Super Hornet'...

Try a Duratrax Evader BX, much closer match & much faster than a Zaboon!

Evader BX specs:

> Fully Ballraced

> 20x1 Motor

> Reversible ESC (Handles 20T-27T Motors)

> Adjustable Oil-shocks

> Adjustable slipper-plate + Ball Diff.

> Adjustable Upper Arms + Turnbuckles

> Bell-crank steering

> Off-road tires WITH foam inserts

> For $170 you get it with a Futaba pistol (+ steering servo), RTR!

> For $120 you get it without radio, but WITH ESC+motor!

I've already invested in the Evader ST[;)]

Go to www.duratrax.com and check it out!

If you decide on it, go to www.towerhobbies.com to order -excellent service!!!

The Zaboon is a really cheap version of the Lazer Alpha, which was a VERY cheap version of the Lazer ZXR. If you are thinking of racing it - Avoid! For a cheap, competitive buggy check out the Yokomo MR4-BC. It can be bought for £99 for the car. These are fairly competitive out of the box, and unlike the Zaboon it can be upgraded to full competition spec if necessary.

Youre right there Mooplea, got a bit confused. [:I]Mistook it for the Lazer 2000, which IS cheap and nasty, and a sad end to a great car.[:(] The Zaboon is shaft drive, like the TB01. It pains me to say this, but again if I was spending my money on a 4WD buggy today I would not buy a Kyosho. The Zaboon is aimed as a beginners car, if you want a decent Kyosho 4WD pick up a second hand Lazer ZXR, or else get the Yokomo. The Zaboon transmission might be decent but the suspension has no chance against any serious buggy.

From what I've seen of the Zaboon it's nothing more exciting than Kyosho answer to the Tamiya Baja Champ/King IE: its a Buggy based on a modified road car chassis, as the Baja King uses a TL-01 variant (TB-01) so the Zaboon uses a modifed version of the Kyosho Pure 10 chassis, it's very plasticy even for a kyosho but at least its a little better looking than the gawd awful Baja King :(
