Hello everyone!

I visited the old forums a few times a year or so ago. I purchased a 80's vintage Kyosho Chevy electric truck.

I just tried it to see if it works, and darn if it doesn't actually operate!

I have no manual, and was wondering if anyone can tell me if the gearbox is supposed to be filled with oil. Ot just have grease on the gears.

Thanks!

Funny, I just went to this board to see if anyone could remember what that thing was called. I had one a while back, but traded it for a monster beetle. It had an metal frame and a fairly realistic body as well as "slot" mag wheels with rock hard knobby tires. Would you consider trading the one you have? I'd trade a TA-02 Celica GT-Four or a NIB Porsche 959 Body for it. Let me know at any rate.

netsmithUK: very nice example! I purchased mine from a member of the old board and unfortunately I have forgotten his name. :( The truck sat on a shelf, unoperated, since then. Only two nights ago did I attempt to run it. To my surprise it is in working order. I didn't think it was when I purchased it. Here is a pic:

Kmot, no worries, it apears that it isnt the model I was thinking of. The one I was thinking of was only a 2wd but had the metal frame with "slot" mag wheels. If anyone has one and would be interested in sale or trade let me know.

I found the Kyosho Robbe Chevy Stepside in our basement.

There are some parts missing, I am not sure if I will be able to restore it.

Are ther other similar Kyosho cars that share some of the parts?

To my knowledge, there are five models sharing the same basic design:

Chevy Stepside Pick-Up (only EP, I believe)

Datsun Pick-Up (only GP, I believe)

Ford F150 Pick-Up (only GP, I believe)

Jeep CJ-7 Don Adams Baja Racer (dubbed "Indiana" by Kyosho, and definitely only available as EP)

Unimog 401 (seen on pictures from Kyosho's showroom, although I don't know if it was ever released for sale)

Do you still have this manual? I'd like to get my hands on it if you do!

Thanks,
