call me a dunce, but i,ve bought myself one of kyosho,s excellent looking 1/8th bike kits - with the moving rider (mk2 i believe?).

but for the life of me, i just cant grasp what radio gear i need for this kit (it hasn,t arrived yet, so i know nothing about it).

why is the proper kyosho radio gear no good?, does it take standard size servo,s and reciever?, does the tamtech radio gear fit and if so what does that sort of radio gear consist of?,whats a CPR unit - is that the reciever/speed controller/servo all in one?.

it might make a bit more sense when the kit arrives - hopefully!.

cheers,

james.

Hey James

Got a Futaba setup here;

Servo is smaller (Acoms in pic also for comparison)

Battery is weenie

Receiver on this one is also a speedo.

The lot came from Stella I think, for around $60, but modelsport also do the same kit (their ref FKMCS, £69 possibly with TX, but not mentioned in description)

yeh, i noticed the futaba set-up in modelsports catalogue aswell, they do a battery aswell, and they also offer a "deal" price for these items for about £90ish. they also list the bikes for £80ish, but i,ve just ordered mine from stella models (in hong kong), it comes with some kind of washer - apparantly for the frame. total price (including shipping) was £61ish - pretty good i thought. the futaba stuff looks ok, but i,ve heard its a bit naff - is that true?, it looks ok.

still a bit baffled though.........[8)]

well, i,ve just given dingball my address details so i can order the gizmo bits for the bike - cheers for the link [:D].

now i,ve got a rough idea what i,m looking for, i,ll look around a bit more. i have actually got 2 sub-micro servos kicking about somewhere, and these are tiny!.

i feel a plan coming together............

cheers [:D]

I'm using a full size (Novak Electra oneway) ESC in my bike with a regular receiver (lives in a rubber bag under the rear cowling). It works very well - a lot better than the recommended Futaba kit.

Make sure you get the oval frame washers.

these bikes must be bigger than i think then if your using some standard radio gear then rizwan....[:0]

yep, the bike came with an after market oval (frame?) washer thrown in. the frame wears out pretty rapidly apparantly, doesn,t it?.

here,s an interesting link i,ve found - there,s even a downloadable video clip of two of these bike racing!, well mint!.

You shouldn checkout the radiocontrol motorbike group on Yahoo. There are some serious bikes there.

A great site also is

http://www.crazynutracing.com

Do a search on the messages for "hor" and you'll find plenty of advice on what to install, how to tune and what to expect from the bike.

Apparently Thunder Tiger are testing a R/C off-road bike at the moment. If it's true then that'll be something worth waiting for.

stefan, i think a standard size servo may fit - just. i,ve got a couple of spare sub-micro servo,s kicking about, which i thought of using, but i think that they might actually be TOO small!. i think its going to need at least a little bit of weight at the front end to help handling.

there definately isn,t a lot of space in these bikes!.
