Hi guys, i got one at Xmas. SUPERB fun.[8D]

Overall size is similar to a WW2 with the wheels/tyres being a bit smaller.

They are quick out of the box but the best thing(compared to other mini trucks) is that it uses a 540 motor. Serious speed hop up potential. Also the spur gear and pinons are all interchangeable with the TA04 so infinit choices of gear ratio.

Pics in my showroom, body almost finished.

How about the ground clearance? the middle section of the chassis seems to hang pretty low.

I was a bit put off the though about getting one for some rock crawling after some feedback here. I am now back on the idea after reading more about them on yourmicro.com and all the mods that can be done to make 'em crawl! [:D]

I guess locking all the diffs, using a high torque micro saver (smaller taking up less room = more articulation), gearing it down and fitting WW2 rear wheels/tyres all over will make it an exellent little rockbuster indeed!

Got mine today - its a lot smaller than I was expecting and the shell is really tiny (and is going to be a pain to mask and paint). Its also in a million pieces which I wasn't expecting - don't know why but I always assumed it was assembled, at least partially. Still I even more glad it isn't[:)]

Will let you know how the build goes.

Cheers

Chris

Paint job finished and a few packs run through it.

Big smile driving[:D] Love it. As i said elsewhere this isn't (in stock form) a rock crawler-but it could easily be made to. It handles like a racer.

Stock gearing is a little low which means it accelerates like a rocket(gravel everywhere) but hits top speed very quickly. Fortunately, as with the best racers, you can change the pinion and the spur gear.

I know Chris(netsmith) has got one, anyone else taking one to Snett?

Hi all

I've started modding my TLT, with the intention of making a small rock (pebble?) crawler. I've had heaps of RC trucks over the years, but I'm a complete noob as far as crawling goes.

The first mod is a new tread pattern, since I've seen the treads on the http://www.mudcow.com mudcow truck, then I'll be narrowing the wheels, making some new links to lengthen the wheelbase (and increase the ride height a little), tweaking the cantilever positions/lengths and shocks accordingly, and locking the diffs.

I've cut the treads on one tyre and narrowed one wheel so far. I'd like to know if any of you have cut tyres or narrowed wheels, and if so do you put any inserts in to the tyre before gluing it to the wheel?

Another thing:- has anybody got any experience of setting up 4 wheel steering so that you can change between 4WS and crab-steering at the flick of a switch? I know that some people are using 3 channel radio sets for 4WS, but I want to control 4WS or crab-steering on one stick on the transmitter, and be able to switch between the two. I guess that I'll be modifying my 4 channel radio gear.[8)]

Hi 4x4x4,

welcome to the forums[^]

I've set my TLT with 4ws(along with my TXT and clodzilla).

4ch transmitter and receiver is the way to go. The right stick(usual steering stick) works the front steering by moving it left and right. The same stick, back and forth, works the rear steering. It takes some practice(easier if your sticks are self centreing).

Driving gets easy after a while. Leave the F/B control still and it is in 2WS mode, work the F/B control and you've got 4WS or crabbing[;)]

Hi tamiyastriker

The TLT wheels and tyres are not the same as those on the Wild Willy or Pumpkin, though Wild Willy rears will fit (something I intend to do after I've increase the wheelbase).
