Hi!

I was wondering if any of you own the old Hirobo cars?I live in a street that was a street away from the Australian Hirobo distributer and always were welcomed to see his cars even though we were 12 years of age and really annoying!Hobby stores would usually trash these cars even though they stocked them!I really liked the cars as well as having a fascination with the great looking "Zerda" which I saw run from new built form!WOW!!!!

They are super cheap on e-bay,kind of like Marui!Do any of you own nib's?Do you run these cars? What are they like?

I have 3 of the Hirobo buggies: Zerda, Alien Mid and Invader. The Zerda and Invader are new built from NIB kits and the Alien is my runners. I must say that I like the Alien a lot. Very fast and smooth. The material used in these cars are very good but the fit could be better.

Are you sure they are cheap on ebay? I have only seen very little of these cars on eBay. The last time a Zerda came up it ended in the mid hundreds I believe for a new built car.

I personally have found Hirobo buggies quite hard to find on Ebay, if you put "Hirobo" into the search engine (internatioanlly available) you get load of RC helicopters and associated spares (which is Hirobo's main business now), but rarely do you see their cars, when they do come up they tend to go with fairly high prices, (more than equivelent period Marui or Kyosho cars) they seem to be quite elusive and exclusive cars, an bit like Ayk, Im after a few myself, Bearcat, Zerda and Alien Mid4, probably wont find any though, but I keep checking just in case.

But you say they keep comming up cheap as in Marui Cheap? see as your an Auzzie does this mean that Austraila is a hot bed of bargain Hirobo buggies???

I got a restored Rock N City (thanks to Andrew and Barry!) I love this car as I used to race one way back when....

I will add pics to my showroom sometime after Christmas when it is totally finished.

Great cars, too bad they still don't make any.

I have the following - some of which are on my site already - and I have a nummber of them to add yet ! (after christmas)- I recently finished my collection of all four of the "44B" series.

a) Zerda NIB - in kit form

B) Zerda NIB - factory built version

c) Invader NIB

D) Toyota Hilux 44B - NIB

e) Rockin City 44B - NIB

f) Rockin Vega 44B - NIB

g) Lancia Rally 44B - NIB

The "44B" series were all the same chassis and major components etc - just different bodies and minor suspension changes etc.

Hirobo's most popular racer by far was the Zerda - around the time of the optima, Mugen Builldog and early dogfighters.most of them got pretty heavily modded - especially the wheel bearings - maost racers got aftermarket wheel hubs to allow the fitting of dual wheel bearings - as the standard car only had one large bearing for the wheels!! After that the popularity of the brand waned somewhat - and they just faded out - even though one of their last cars - the jealousy - was truly a stunning car to drive !

ahh - memories

Cheers

When I was younger, I bought a zerda factory built from circus hobbies in las vegas. It was super fast, quiet, handled very well. It was also very cool looking with its rugged roll cage. Only problem I had was in stripping the pinion pullies, and primary belt. I have seen a few hirobo come up on auction. A nib alien will usually end less than 180.00 USD, and the last zerda ended near 160.00, I think. Not bad really for such rare buggies. The build quality is low compared to kyosho, and the lexan bodies are strange at best. I wouldnt mind adding either an alien, or jealousy to my shelf.

Well,

Thought would post a reply to this dead thread and let you know I have found a Jealousy.

Want to see more ?

Well, you have quite a collection.... Nice cars across the buggy range.

I had seen a Zerda two month ago if I remember well in ebay.... I came across the Jealousy more by luck. just read some posts and found they are very rare.

So i decided i had to have at least one 'real' collectable, value car.

Most of my other cars are vintage too, but fully equipped and they are being used. just that i upgrade the technical parts to last longer being used:-)

Where did you come across the Jealousy? I'm not looking for one, but a good source for another Hirobo.

I found it in ebay but I do not know if the nice chap has some others. i think there's a Hirobo Hilux without body in ebay right now.

i have no confirmed source for Hirobo cars, it was a lucky but expensive find.

Highly unlikely, they only produced 300 of them. Nice find there, they do look the part for a high end buggy from the 80s, all those metal wishbones. Definitely on my wants list.

Did you get yours on ebay.com or ebay.de?

That was great .

I like the Ashura. I always wanted one, I like the idea of one - way'ing the rear axle, so it goes FF in a straight line. Brilliant.

great work on that timeline !

I also added to my Hirobo collection, I now have 1 complete Rock N City, most of another including a brand new body, a Zerda, and some spares for it too.
