The screws on one of my plastic parts wont stay in because they've worn down the plastic which holds them and they fall out when running the car. is there anything i can do stop this? I have some hard plastic adhesive, could i put some of this into the screw holes and wait for it to dry and then screw the screws into this? [?]

I some cases its possible to put super glue in a drip at a time and let it build up around the edges. When the holes are a little narrower and the glue is COMPLETELY dry then try screwing your screws in again. If they are still too loose just repeat the process.

Hi Chris,

The TT-01 is quite bad for this, I have noticed. The superglue approach can work, other times Threadlock can work too as it turns to a jelly like substance. So you cna later remove the screws you might want to try silicone sealant.

I have used the superglue trick before on my TXT.

I usually put a drop in the very tip of the screw rather than the threads itself so hopefully only the tip is held and it will come undone again.

Don't use model cement for ABS eg Airfix glue, it contains acetone

that will soften/dissolve Tamiya plastic.

If you have stripped screw holes, put in a layer of superglue as

Chris says and let it dry. Then before you put the screw back in,

coat the threads with a touch of superglue too.

Sometimes it also helps to change that screw to a machine-thread.

These often hold better to softer Tamiya parts than self-tappers.

I still use threadlock on everything (80's throwback)[:I] and to date no problems..... too much plastic these days [8)] Bring back the old days[:P][:P] I am looking forward to building the XR311 - lots of lurverly metal bits[:P]

I find the use of Loctite thread lock to be the best thing to fix that. It not only grips well but allows removal of the screw later. Super glue is too brittle IMHO.
