The Sprint is sold as a RTR here, including radio & ESC. It looks like a pretty decent deal, and the car design isn't too bad - although manufactured & built to a price.

Casual glance at the car suggests a lot of the design (if not actual parts themselves) are cribbed from HPI's Pro/Sport 1 & 2 cars; parts might even be interchangeable. Performance-wise it wouldn't be far different from these old stalwarts... and many of these are available used secondhand too.

They are great cars, especially for the price. The chassis is moulded plastic, but it is as stiff as glassfibre and a lot lighter. Based on the Sport 2 car, which is based on the original HPI Pro1, most of the suspension is identical. The price is kept low by replacing the carbon fibre with moulded plastic and simplifying the drive train. You get gear diffs front and rear instead of ball diffs.

A lot of racers at my local club race these, they handle well and are quite competitive. They are very light as standard, so they are quite fast. No one has yet put a 12 turn motor in one though. If you are running on a tight track or in a small area HPI do a version called the Sprint GTI which is a short wheelbase version. The shorter wheelbase means it turns more positively, but no one else makes alternative bodies to fit the GTI versions yet. They also make a rally version of the car with more ground clearance and off road tyres.

They are a good car and all HPIs tune up parts can be added later. When I saw the first one at our club I did think there were one or two areas which could be weak, but I have been proved wrong. All the cars seem totally reliable and strong.
