Does anyone know anything about the RC-10 Kinwald Worlds car?It seemed to be the last real RC-10,with the classic tub chassis! What year were they made? What are they like?Does anyone own one?Are they rare to buy in mint form or NIB?

I think the Kinwald Worlds car won the IFMAR worlds in 1993 using a Losi Hydradrive instead of the stock Associated slipper clutch. Associated went on to produce it in 1994. I got one myself and I can tell you that it is a VERY well made car. Way better than any Japanese car (including Yokomo, Kyosho) I had before. The plastic molding and machining were A+ grade, tight tolerance and very precise fit. The aluminium tub was essentially the same as other tubs except some minor machined off areas in the name of weight saving, even though it was insignificant. The steering setup has no build-in servo saver, unlike the other RC10 or later RC10s. The manual even recommend NOT to use a servo saver if one is using metal gear servo. I dare not to and used a Kimborough servo saver. Also the manual never specify what size servo saver should one use, have to experiment a bit. The chassis was very stiff with minimum flex under stress. Kinwald also cut down approximately 1cm from the vertical side of the tub in his World car.

The drive train was absolutely smoooooooth!! Only complaint I have was the shocks. They are very nice shocks and super smooth but there was no provision for volume compensation (e.g. a rubber bladder like tamiya or foam like Schumacher of Losi). In the process of shock building, air will inevitably be included, which mean that the shocks house a lot of oil and tiny bit of air. And I think the trapped air act as volume compensator. Essentially, those are pressurised shocks. Again, they work very nicely and made Associated World champ many times over but in a long run, those shocks tend to leak a bit because of the pressurised nature.

This particular Worlds car has been quite hard to find in NIB condition now, last time I saw one was in 1998 on ebay and it sold for USD$170, a bargain!!
