I think that looks cool and fun. I wouldn't dare to fly it as I Know I would crash it on the first day out.

I have been flying R/C aircraft for years - however I have never plucked up the courage to have a go at choppers - they are the "master" class of skills as far as R/C goes.....I must get myself a simulator before I try one....

Are they as hard as they say to fly? - I can fly fixed wings pretty proficiently.....

Cheers - looks SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEET

If you would like to try you hand at flying a model helicopter and

really don’t want to spend a lot of money, then why not make

yourself one of these. It feels just like a helicopter in hover.

If you can keep the little ball in the center then you can hover a

helicopter!

1. Cut a small sheet of 12" plywood to 6" by 6"

2. Drill a 3/16" hole about 3/8" deep

3. Cut the 3/16" dowel to around 5" long

4. Epoxy the dowel into the plywood

5. Now epoxy an old Super Champ U-Joint to the other end of the dowel

6. Get a little round mirror and epoxy it to the SC U-Joint (the mirror most be flat and

not the magnifying type)

7. Take an old 2 channel radio and setup the servos as shown

8. You’re about ready to try it out but first make sure to trim the servo so that the

mirror level. Place the ball on the mirror if it rolls then trim it out so that the ball

will just sit there.

Ok here we go! Stand facing the training table, when you push forward on the radio

stick the ball should roll forward ( if not move around the table ‘til you’re in the right

spot. Now move the radio stick to the left and the ball will roll to the left. If not reverse

the servo so that it does.

When you can keep the ball on the table you’ll be able to hover a helicopter!

This table does not teach you how to control the tail rotor but a good gyro

will most of that for you anyway.

Ok have at it And if you need any help making or setting this up just let me know

P.S. To answer the question about are helicopter hard to fly, Well is truth is no

their not, in fact hovering is really the only thing that takes a while to learn.

When a helicopter starts to fly forward it flys very much like an airplane.

So if you can fly an airplane then you can fly a helicopter in forward flight.

Note: you must learn to hover first! Or you’ll be in real trouble when comes

time to land. When I was first learning to fly the guys at field would say

“look here comes Steve to practice his crashesâ€[:P]
