hi...

to stay in the "wat is it worth style" ,

i have a new , not used MPX "amphi" ,

it's last listed as a kit in 1978 ,

( MPX , multiplex )

it is a amphibical (how the **** do you write this ??? ) car, with twin engine and have the drawings and building guide with it (no box),

some dude told me its worth well over a $ 1000 dollars for a collector, ehm.. i dont realy beleave him but can't find any old ebay auctions on it..

I know this amphibious model, or actually modelsid="red">. It was offered as a twoseat "Amphicar", like yours, and a truck called....yes you guessed right, "Amphitruck"! Below the "waistline", they were identical, apart from the colour of the hull. Amphicar hull is red, Amphitruck hull orange.

1000USD seems a little steep to me, but good examples fetch 200-300 Euro on German eBay, so since yours is really new it will probably be worth roughly 50% more. The Truck seems to be the most attractive of the two to most collectors, by the way. A nice model, but like my Gama Sea Ranger, it's rear wheel drive only, so getting out of water isn't so easy. []

i am thinking about making it work again, it still got the 6v engines in it , thinking about putting 2 esc in it (skipping the orriginal id with that flimzy switch construction, and some 7.2 engines in it..

But, on the other hand.. its new, is a waist to get damaged..

Stefan, I think I caused some confusion when stating that the name of the truckversion is "Amphitruck". It's correct, but there are so many amphibious vehicles dubbed "Amphitruck" that doing a search (which I expect you did?) makes lots of different Amphitrucks pop up. The Multiplex Amphitruck is identical to your Amphicar below the waistline (hull and mechanics) and not 6WD.

I found a most helpful site (www.schwimmauto.de) in English and German, where you can look up information on amphibious cars. It has a link for models too, where it's stated that your Amphicar is very rare in pristine condition as the hull easily cracks, and as a matter of fact, most of the MPX Amphitrucks and -cars I've seen on eBay had cracked hulls. Maybe worth taking note of if you intend to use your model. Reinforcing the hull from the inside might be a good idea.
