Hey

Has anyone got a manual in any form for the Tomy Intruder ? I fancy doing a rebuild and although it looks simple enough i'd prefer to have the manual as backup. (Kits & Bits of Coventry build it for me as I was rather young at the time).

I have tried search engines etc to no luck, only finding a couple of references to some other version called ADONIS.

If anyone knows a good place to start looking for replacement parts etc it would be much appreciated.

Any tips for a rebuild would be appreciated ;).

Just in case anyone is interested -

Hi Speedo

I think I have an Intruder manual with my car but it's in storage so I'll have to dig it out first.

I see you live in the UK too, if you contact me through my TC showroom with your address I'll post you a copy. My TC id is Spike [:)]

I also have some NIB wishbones for this buggy if you're interested[?]

Hi Speedo

I have the Adonis version of the Intruder, it's a cheaper alternative of the original Intruder which was quite an expensive and advanced competition car in it's day (89-91)

The original Intruder (Which you have) used some exotic materials in it's construction, like carbon fibre and magnesum alloy castings, for the Adonis most of that was substituted for regular aluminium and plastic items, but the basic design was the same.

a later "EX" version of the Intruder was produced, this was the ultimate in design and refinement, it had a different more conventional looking body style with the Drivers Cockpit mounted further back than the other two cars, it was lighter and meaner but also quite rare and Tomys last Buggy kit, even though they did actually make some rally cars (Pulsar and Celica) utilising the Adonis running gear.

as these cars where only produced for a few year in the early 90's then it's reasonable to assume that spares for these cars are also very rare, I'm not sure what exactly you need, but certain items could be substituted with modern hop-up alternatives.

The Adonis kits a some of the Rally cars have more recently been availble as MIB from a seller on Ebay, they seem to have acces to an old stock of these kits, and bring them up for sale on Ebay periodically, the sellers user name is HI_IQ? your only real choise for getting spares for an Intruder is to buy a MIB kit and rob it of parts :S

Now as for the Manual, if youy say your in Coventry then I'm fairly local to you as I live in the nearby town of Leamington Spa, I have the Adonis manual which although not the same? should be similar enough for you to get an idea of how the car goes together.

if you want to contact me the my Email is wldnas@hotmail.com

oh and BTW (SPIKE)? I don't think you have any spare wishbones to offer him anymore, as you gave them to me at Clumber park on Sunday remember [?]

Small world, didn't think there would be people who lived so close to me. I am actually in a village inbetween Leamington Spa and Rugby, and go through Leam quite often.

I will throw you an email at some point, thanks for the offer of a manual ;).
