TLO1 Long arms set....

Snollan posted a query about the TLO1 LA.

looking the limeted info on the Tamiya web site I didn't find the answer I was after...

Does anyone know if it changes the dimensions of the car in any way?

The overall width of the TLO1-LA kit seem the same as the standard.

The description of the TL01/FF02 Long Span Suspension Set (200mm Conversion) is a follows:

This is a Tamiya TAM 53467 Long-Span Suspension Set for Tamiya TL-01 and FF02 Chassis. It widens your car to 200mm width - increasing stability and allowing you to use the full range of 200mm Lexan Car Bodies. The set includes all four long suspension arms, Front & Rear Swaybars, Revised Hinge Pins, Turnbuckles. Front & Rear Uprights, Hub Carrier, and the hardware you need to install it.

I don't know the source of that description, but I have the long suspension arm set on my TL-01 and it does not widen the chassis. It is a misconception from the name; what it basically does is change the geometry of the arm to provide a different pivot point and thus better handling. I think you may be referring to the long suspension arm set for the TG-10 MK1 which does widen the chassis.

RCBoyz is wrong. As Wayne pointed out the long arm kit only changes the geometry of the suspension *not* the width. The kit only changes the plastics of the arms. The dog bones and drive cups remain the same therefor the width remains the same. This is a quote from Tower Hobbies:

"This kit does not widen the vehicle. It changes the suspension arms to a one-piece design, instead of a two piece design. It also changes the suspension pivot points to allow for better handling."

Yeah thought it was a bit odd.

Just as well really, I almost when and spent £50 on a new unused kit of the Bay just to get (what I thought would be) longer arms.

Yup and for $49 you can get the whole kit from tower hobbies.
