Been checking the spec sheets for the Super Sport Brushless System http://www.teamnovak.com/products/MOTOR/motor.htmand even though the RPM figures look impressive in itself, those torque numbers do standout from the ones you'd see in a similar modified.

My question is: do these things deliver?

And lastly: what about heat? Is it a factor given that Tamiya plugs are used to connect the battery to the ESC?

Torque?? Yes, you'd better believe it. [8D]

Its got enough torque to rip your belts to shreds and

yank the wheel centres out from foam wheels if you've got

the sissy flat spoke types. Sticky race rubber chirps

when you floor it out of corners with 4-wheel wheelspin.

Gear the SS5800 like a 27turn stock motor.

(with brushed, more turns = more torque. Low turn mods got none)

As always, thanks WillyChang.

Getting really anxious to try one these things with nice Dyna Storm and maybe show the local nitro-heads a thing or two about electric power[8D]

What about that heat question? As far as I can see from the pictures, the Novak ESC comes with Tamiya plugs for the battery. Wouldn't this beast create a lot current and, as consecuence, generate too much heat for the standard Tamiya plugs?

SS5800 is very efficient, much more than brushed motor.

For that level of performance you'd expect the plugs to melt

but they hold up pretty well - if you kept them clean & maintained.

ESC does get very warm when you hammer SS5800 hard.

Not sure how good they'd work in a 2WD buggy, the torque might

be too much for it & it'll be a handful to drive. In 2WD buggy

usually racers go for doubles or triples mod for less torque.

Might be better in a 4WD or stadium truck.

I use a Novak 5800 brushless system in my Losi XXX-4 G+

I must say tat i did not expect the performance was that good!

I run a 22 teeth pinion (21 reccomended by Novak) And with a 8 turn Losi recomends using a 16 teeth. Still with the 22 the car blasts away at once full throttle is given. Top speed is icredible ,and it is quite hard keeping a straight line on dirt sometimes.

I highly recomend this system. (would be interestin to try it with a large pinion in my F103 ) [:D]
