When this car first came out in OZ, I got on their site to work out the total cost of the car and it was AU$600 [:0]

Is it the electric Impreza or the Astra IC car? The Impreza looks really cheap and is smaller than normal, but the Astra is the Kyosho Alpha chassis and is a decent car, the only problem is that a deal package costs £225, or £360 if bought with the magazine.[xx(]

its so plastic[:P]! what was i thinking when i bought the first issue[xx(]? its the electric subaru, think its up to issue 32/34 i have built up to about issue 11 and now i carnt be botherd! i will probably finish building it one day just to crash and bash it and to play chicken over the nearest motorway!!![}:)] pics are in my showroom

No disrespects to you tyler but anyone who bought into this Magazine kit car scam is a real sucker [8)]

the Impretzer is made by a Spanish RC company called Bycmo the quality of the car is no better than the most basic of cars made by your average Korean or Taiwanese clone car manufacturer, they sold the first 7-8 issues in newsagents then after that it went onto special subscription, there was 40 odd issues at £4.99 each and at the end of it all you don't even get the radio gear with it [:0] you have to buy that seperatly from the magazine ppl for a package price, and I think that the overall cost is in excess of £300 when all is said and done [V]

it's just one big rip-off, the real kick in the pants comes when you go down you local model shop and realise that you could have bought a Tamiya or Ripmax RTR subaru Impretza model off the shelf and ready to run for around £70-80

Mind you I was pulled in by it all at first? I assumed that eventually they would get around to the issues with the radio receivers, servos, speedo and motor and for £4.99 you could have bought a load expensive radio gear on the cheap that way, but of course I soon found out thats not how it works [:(] a pity cos it could have been very interesting had they done it that way [;)]

i do kinda feel ripped off when i think about what it actually costs in total, i could of bought a tamiya TXT1 on finance and loved it! but now im stuck with a nasty looking 2wd subaru impreza! its awful to build too, i wish i had never filled out the subscription form! i guess we are all cought off guard sometimes[B)]

yeah I'm collecting this too but I can't remember seeing it say anywhere that you need to buy the R/C gear seperately, the battery it does say about buying seperate.

The nitro version, if you look at the poster in issue 1 it does say 'The issue with the engine will be sold at a higher price'

Hmmm so 60 issues at £5.99 is roughly £360 but how much is the engine issue going to be??

No I was right the R/C gear IS part of the weekly package and it's a Hi-Tec Ranger system just got BYCMO stickers on it!!

It comes in 6 editions so that part works out at £29.94 not bad for a 2ch system I think!!

The build quality is a bit iffy i'll agree but it does have adjustable front wheel toe-in and camber is adjustable on all 4 wheels!! Tamiya's TL-01 isn't(unless you buy the hop-up's!!)

There's me and about 6 of my mates collecting and building these and when it's finished we're gonna get our village hall for a night!!

I'm another of those suckers building the Subaru, guess that once I got started I couldn't stop. As for the IC Astra you can buy one for £199 from Hobby Stores UK and it is exactly the same one as the one from the mag and it includes the radio gear,so I guess I'll probably save up for that instead

OMG OMG OMG! you bought it too

I have 99.9% completed the subaru of the deagostini kit, (just need the shell, i got the batteries and stuff)

and, ten minutes of running time, I broke it! well, i should say it broke itself because i only ran it on grass without crashing! [:(] and exactly the same happened to my pegeot 206 (the differential broke somehow[B)])

1) It cost me around 220 quid!

2) Too true it is 99% plastic [xx(] too plastic

I'll post some pictures of mine, anyone want to buy for 200* [:P]

*also willing to swap for 2nd hand IC lol, no lie tho! [8)]

PS: only lost 1 part [;)] a bearing in the rear wheel is missing but it used to make the car do evil wheelspins and donuts on grass!

Well it was completed in 45 issues, but now they are continuing with more issues which have upgraded items!! (i.e ball-races,ally shox and tyre inserts!!) When will it EVER end!!

Have seen a few of the Subarus come into work and they all appear to be suffering from the same problems. It seems DeAgostini have fitted a cunning self destruct device into the rear diff making the gears eat themselves. A few cars have come in looking like they have never been run with this problem so either people are building them wrong or the diff is complete chaff. I'd go with the latter, lol.

yup thats excactly what happened to mine, shoulda never trusted it :/ but anyway, it looks okay [:P] and its £5 for anothr so, i'll go with the flow, lol

well the body shell was delivered to me the other day, and its not that bad looking to be honest. ive ran the car for a few mins in the house and it perfoms worse than it looks!!![}:)] im gonna decal the bodyshell and make a ramp and see how far it can fly[:P] oh yeah the resistor on mine gets so hot that it burns if i touch it, i have a very big blister on my index finger from trying to pick it up! i was so angry that i very nearly threw it out the window[:(!][:(!] to calm myself down i took my supershot out for a spin[:)]. im glad im not the only one thats dissapointed with this, i should have gone for the nitro astra[:(]
