Anyone know when the Bandai marketed version came out and is this a popular car, anything unique about it other than the chain drive two wheel drive system. Does it have metal components or is it all plastic, are the shocks metal?

well from what I know? both the Bandai and Monogram versions of the Mad Wolf came out at about the same time (1986) but neither manufacturer stuck with RC car selling for very long :S the Mad Wolf is a far as I'm aware the only ready to assemble RC car kit made by Bandi/Monogram.

as for the chassis construction its mostly plastic but of a very good quality and the car is very durable, there are some metal componants used, all the shocks have metal bodies and there is a sizable metal bulkhead plate down one side of the main gearbox assembly but the rest of the car is made from plastic.

I can't say as there are any more distinguishing features other than the novel twin chain drive/swing arm rear suspension system but it has to be said that the design of the chassis is very neat and clever and the quality of the car and kit is easily on par with anything that Tamiya have produced, I have one I use as a runner and its a real excellent car to drive, chrisp handling rides the bumps with consumate easy, has ample ground clearnce for the roughest teriain, it flys over jumps like it's rocket propelled and is very quick even in 540 powered stock form and is one of the most robust and durable cars I have ever driven, it's practically indistructable [;)]
