Hi ,

I have just rebuilt my TL01 and replaced all the nylon bearings with proper steel ones ! also replaced the 540 standard with a Mtronics 27x1 motor ( has to be 27 turn in my racing class ) and put a Mtroniks ESC on it too , I haven't had chance to fully test it at the track yet , but it screams , I mean you can hear a really high pitched scream , coming from the motor i assume , before its even moving , is this normal or should I strip the motor , the motor is brand new from www.modelsinmotion.co.uk . many thanks for any suggestions for the Newbie !

Im sure there will be many more questions to come

Cheers

Is it more of a screem then a beep?

My mtronics ecs beebs at me...But its a fast beep so it sounds like a screem.

Try adjusting on the remote the little bit next to the big stick.

Sorry not to big on these kinda things...

I got that sound from my tl-01 too with an Mtronics ESC. That is, until i melted the ESC [8D] (which was not related to the beeping sound, mind you.)

It's just the sound coming from the motor, it's normal. (So i was told by an RC plane veteran.)

Thanks guys ,

Ive trimmed it back and it stopped making the noise ( would have helped if I had the right colour crsytals too !!! )

It now only makes the noise when the motor is under load.

IS this a Mtroniks thing ? as there is one guy at our club whos RC car is near silent.

Thanks for all the input.

be at the right frequency to make them resonate.

Don't think FETs would resonate accoustically, its the motor due to the switching current.

Not only, it depends on the switching frequency of your ESC and the mechanical and electromagnetic properties of your motor and chassis (stiffness, play, magnetic force), its nothing to be worried about, like in all resonance cases, just probably a bad coincidence.

The sound doesn't come from the ESC in any way. It all comes from the motor. I don't have any experience with other ESC's so i don't know if this is just an Mtronics thing or not.

Although, i only have 1 capacitor fitted on the motor instead of the recommended 3. That might have something to do with it.

HI SparX,

Don't worry about the sound from the ESC when you are actually pushing the stick forward or backwards.

I have a P-sung ESC and it makes a simliar noise when I push the stick in either direction.

Like the others have said just adjust the trim a notch or two until it stops when idle.

yep, there should be NO noise at neutral/idle and at full tilt.

If there is then that means your settings have moved since your

last setup was done; either correct your trim levers and/or

redo the setup procedure.

Also pays to set all your throttle channel End-Points to MAX

before doing setup; gives the ESC more 'resolution'.
