I have the Daishin receiver in my Tamiya Renault Mk.22 Martini F-2 car, this was a friends - I never got the transmitter and wondered what it looked like. Wow that's an old looking transmitter, from reading my old British R/C car magazines, the pre-runner to the current steering wheel / gun transmitter (like we have now) was indeed a transmitter like the one you have, a box with a wheel, the throttle I presume is on the side ? Futaba used to do a transmitter with a wheel on the right and a stick on the left, still a square box arrangement.

Are you sure the car's only from the early 80's ? the front looks a dead ringer for a Tamiya !!! I've tried tracking down Daishin before on the net and found nothing, thanks for showing me the 'interesting' transmitter !!
